Trasd
Hey all! I am new to Spiderweb and specifically to Avadon, and I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I was searching for a turned-based RPG (a real one) when I found this app. I am running it on my Android tablet. Because my tablet is a rooted B&N Nook Color, I sometimes don't get all compatible apps listed in Market, but luckily Amazon is a little better at recognition. This is why it took me so long to discover Avadon - it didn't show up in Market for my device. So far, I really like the game, unfortunately I need a few items clarified before I invest (I am still playing the demo): Is the app still being actively developed for the Android port? I don't want to invest this much money in an app that is not going to be improved and is currently almost unplayable for me (see the next bullet). My concern is that since the project was subcontracted and already paid for, it is what it is and suggested changes will not be implemented. The toolbar UI in Android is way too small to use effectively; my suggestion is to make it at least 50% larger (other problems can make the game difficult, but they don't make it unplayable). There are multiple suggestions on the Amazon and Market reviews requesting this fix. Does buying the game for one platform get you any benefits for other platforms? I really want to buy this app as it is the best Android turn-based RPG I've found. If the toolbar is enlarged, I will happily purchase it. I have no problems with the price either, because it looks like it is worth every penny, though of course I wouldn't complain if the price was dropped, LOL! A less presumptuous name.
Apportable, the team that ported for Android Humble Bundle, seems to be doing minor bug fixes, but I doubt they'll change any UI features. Buying through a third-party site does not guarantee service on other platforms. I think Jeff only gives codes out to third-party purchasers if the game doesn't work, but you can always email and check (support@spiderwebsoftware.com). Buying from Spiderweb's site, though, will get you access on all platforms sold through them.
Trasd
With the way the port is done, who would I send modification requests to?
A less presumptuous name.
I'm not sure where to send comments or requests. Really, while I know you wanted a game for Android, you should consider playing on a desktop. The games are absolutely worth it!
Trasd
I appreciate the suggestion, but I have plenty of good games for the desktop, I am looking specifically for Android games (or more precisely, games that can be played on my tablet). Randomizer
Try a capacitance pen to get better control than a finger. WElcome to Spiderweb Software. I'd recommend leaving your sanity at the door, but the game seems to be taking care of removing it.

Thanks, I did consider that, but the B&N Nook screen does not work very well with the pens - it's the type of glass. I may be able to get away with it if I don't have to drag, but otherwise no. I think the real solution would be for the developers to increase the UI size - say 15% across the board, make the title bars semi-transparent (say 50% alpha), and finally make the toolbar functionality (as far as clearing quick slots and other interactions) activate with a long-press. If these things were done, Avadon would be a much more successful app and I truly believe the sales would reflect this. It would get a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews and that would be the best sales tool available. EDITED - my views have somewhat changed, but I left the full post here for completeness. After talking with Spiderweb, I do feel like they are concerned with Avadon's development. Work-arounds are a discouragement. For now, Avadon for Android comes across as the poor, forgotten stepchild. Almost like, as an afterthought, the developers decided to port it over to Android and forget about it. It either makes money or it doesn't. I'm not saying this was their intent, but it is a poor impression to give. This, I think, is a shame because it is exactly what I was looking for otherwise. I think the payoff for a little effort would make all the difference in the world, IMHO.
Randomizer
You are right about Android being an after thought since the game was designed for regular computers and ported to iPad after the interface was created. The iPad version also has problems.
Apportable
Hi everyone, Thanks for bringing up these issues. We generally haven't found that users are dissatisfied with the Android version of Avadon: The Black Fortress in terms of the UI. We appreciate the suggestions, though! Any players can feel free to email us at androidsupport@spiderwebsoftware.com with feedback (thanks Earth for pointing Trasd to us) . We are proud of the Android version of Avadon and will continue to release updates as the need arises. ~The Apportable Team~
Trasd
I do apologize and after further testing the program, I must amend my previous statements. Anyway, after running the app for awhile today and keeping in mind it might take me awhile to get used to the interface, I now have only one suggestion. This suggestion is to change the way you empty a quickslot. I recommend a long-press and menu selection as opposed to trying drag your finger to the tiny red X. Other than this, it looks like I am in the minority with the other UI problems I was having. Again, I do apologize, I may have gotten aggravated after trying to empty a quickslot (it literally took me 15 minutes) and didn't give the UI a fair assessment after that. Maybe I should have just gone to bed! LOL BTW, I will be buying the app.
