During wandering around Avernum I decided to goto Final Gauntlet and found unvisited places there and worst of those was that pitch dark area and its encounters, Altered Giants, Lichs/other undeads nor Cryodrakes aren't more than nuisance but Eyebeasts/Gazers are bad (due heavy spellcasters and get everytime battle frenzy) and that freaking Deathcurse Lich/whatever was too big boss. If I had found that area when I 1st time went there I might not have survived from that Deathcurse Lich, when my 2nd fighter got deathcurse (2nd time during adventuring) I had pummeled that freaking lich so much that battle was over few rounds after.

Good at that area was loot (no use for that blade but cloak has use).

The area is similar to the earlier versions of wandering around in the dark and getting hit by monsters. This remake added the deathtouch horror, but the death curse can be survived with enough health, magic resistance, and an invulnerability potion.

Drath was easy compared to Grah and Final Gauntlet 2nd area.

1st time my 2nd fighter got deathcurse inv.potion didn't help (he wasn't in full health (had lost maybe 20 health from max) so prolly that's why) even its effect was active still.

That fight was bad cause I couldn't prepare for it like casting Haste or anything else.

I still hate Gazers/etc ability to cast Battle Frenzy at 99/100% rate (I don't think they'll have BF scrolls/potions).

Honestly, the hardest fight I found was the Barrier Tower and those [Expletive Deleted] charm happy golems.

Your Character, who is now MY character because Mind Shield is less effective than a tinfoil hat, hits your other character for [1 followed by slightly fewer zeros than needed to crash the game] because combat is not a 1 to 1 ratio between your characters and monsters everywhere. She dies. Her entire FAMILY dies. The hole left from the impact breaks through to the other side of the planet and some poor hapless bystander dies as he falls in.

Have a nice day.

... I don't often resort to cheating, but that right there is neither fun, fair, or entertaining.

I say GRah Hoth is easiest of the final three quests. He might be hard if you play it like it was intended, but I just opened up the treasure room, stuck my party in there, Grah followed me in, I killed him in 5 minutes, then spent like an hour mopping up the 45+ minions he spawns as they filtered through the tunnel one at a time. It's really more a battle of attrition that takes ages, but it's not hard.

The Gauntlit is more annoying than hard. This area, more than anything, depends on your loadout. So it might be best to do it first. When I did it I had very few energy potions left, which probably made things much harder than they needed to be. I don't remember having to reload much in the dark area, but it was definitely annoying, and stressful, and not much fun having to wander artound looking for switches in the dark (while being attacked at the same time and having my mages running out of magic).

I did LOVE the emperor's quest, though. It was the best thing about the game. It's also the hardest of the three--but in a fun way. It was initially kicking my ass so I had to get creative and give my mage with blink a couple revive scrolls and a invulnerability pot and let her just blink the entire hallway then revive my party at the end. That final boss fight was epic too, only I have no idea how anyone could survive it on torment without invulnerability potions (lucky I had enough for my party to get through).

If you want to look for the hardest fights in this game you shouldn't look at bosses (which you can buff and prepare for and exploit in various ways), but rather some of the open world fights that just dump you into the fray with 4 eye beasts, 3 crydrakes, and seven giant shaman (or some of unholy combination).

These are hardest just because you have to waste your first moves buffing up and casting haste, and often times your entire party is cut in half by the second move.

I for example remember having a hard time with that wandering undead quest in the Great Cave. I might have just attempted it too soon, but that fight was really hard just because your entire party has to withstand an attack from the outset, before you can counter (at which point you have to choose between damage or buffing, which can be a hard choice sometimes).

Getting bogged down in the east corridor with the endless spawns can be a problem. Invulnerability is the best way to survive on torment for the final fight.

I have sold all wand of carrunos.

Charming golems were pia too cause my dumb fighters have crappy mental resistance and when they were charmed haste worked well giving them 2 attacks (if charmed caster could use spells then party would be quite dead), managed to do that fight by few monsters at a time and killed all golems etc there was.
