SapientCrow
Are there a lot less buttons to find that open secret areas compared to Avernum or are they just hidden much more? IS the max for lockpicking 4 or can I have 2 shadowwalkers and a mage all at 4 and it will reduce lockpicks by that combined amount?
Randomizer
THe buttons are much harder to see. Lock picking skills don't combine. The highest in the party is used. There is a charm that allows +1 later in the game.
SapientCrow
So compared to Avernum escape from the pit is there still a similar amount of the secret areas to find?
Avadon
@SapientCrow Good luck with the hidden doors. I couldn't really activate them in Avadon even when I knew they should be there. Frustrating. Now Avernum has the right idea and I could actually see the switches...
A less presumptuous name.
If you're really having trouble seeing the switches, a member made a script edit to make them easier to see. There is a link for that in the Strategy Central thread at the top of the Avadon page.
SapientCrow
I have been able to see some of them. I am more curious if there is an abundance of them like Avernum so I know to search a lot. So far it seems the multiple paths to a goal is not as frequent in Avadon and it appears either are the secret buttons. And of course I maybe missing a great deal of them too... Earth
there are alot hidden switches and list of those could be somewhere.
Jerakeen
There are quite a few, but as in Avernum, they never conceal anything plot-essential. On the rare occasion that you need to find one for a quest, some sort of hint will be given. You're right that multiple paths are pretty much gone. I miss that. Randomizer
The full list of found hidden switches is buried in the Synergizer Item List. However looking at the Hint Book maps there was one room in Castle Vebeaux that we couldn't find a switch.
Jerakeen
Really? Where?
Randomizer
On the Return to Avadon part of Castle Vwbeaux, there is a room inside the twisting corridor from the secret entrance.
Jerakeen
Huh. Jeff probably decided there were enough distractions on that route already.
Avadon
@Master1 Thanks, but it doesn't work on iPad. Nonetheless, I believe that the hidden doors' tiny switches are no longer an issue moving forward as the ones in the newer game, Avernum: Escape from the Pit, are huge. So the newer games should be just fine and dandy OP.
