Viper
Have only died once up to level 9, and that was because I was not paying attention due to lack of challenge This game seems to be much easier that previous Avernum games. My fighters are regularly hitting in the 50-100 range, and 1 hit killing everything. I am in the Nephilim fort near Formello at the moment. Previous Avernums would have me going back quite often to towns to ressurect characters. The game is good . But I might lose interst through lack of challenge. And from what I have been reading hard is the opposite, presenting to much challenge.
SapientCrow
hard is definitely hard core and I tried torment haha... insane still hard poses the challenge you might be after. I usually only play games on hard now since somehow designers have decided easy mode is funner for people. I turned off hard mode for one boss battle but other than that I have not and I die a lot so I either am reloading or going back to town. Sterno
Well, try a harder difficulty and let us know how it goes! Complaining that it's too easy while higher difficulty modes are available to you seems kind of baffling. It'd be like me complaining that the game is too hard when I crank the difficulty up to Torment!
Viper
Yes....I guess I will try the hard setting. I was afraid that then I would become frustrated becuase the game was to difficult.
The Reverend
I found hard to be just right ... hard enough to present a bit of a challenge, but not so hard as to be frustrating.
Lilith
You can change the difficulty at any time during the game, so it's not like playing around with different difficulty settings represents a huge commitment.

Viper
After playing on hard for awhile it seems just about the right difficulty. The difficulty is more in line with the challenge from previous games. Maybe just a touch more difficult but still I like it a lot more. ShieTar
Have you switched off "Party always acts in roster order." in the main menu? In my opinion, this option makes the game much easier, with always giving you a full round of actions in advance to any monster. Having the enemy act first before you get any buffs up is a completely different game, specifically once you run into enemies that stun or fear. The Reverend
Yeah, I turned off the "Party always acts in roster order" option ... It just didn't feel right after the way action order was determined in all the previous Avernum games.
SapientCrow
wow I did not know that about roster order. thanks. I am especially liking learning how you have to have to move around in a much more non linear fashion to achieve smooth movement through the game. It is harder to get used coming from mostly linear games that call themselves non linear. and each level seems to really show serious benefit. I am curious does losing to hit affect spells landing as well?
