ponyboy
I've been putting in a lot of time with this game and I'm stuck. I cannot seem to locate Cortath or his hut to get the recipe for Graymold Salve. Can anyone help?
Punctuation rains from the heavens
West of Formello, and South of Fort Draco. Follow the river from Fort Draco and go just SW of it. It's by a lake.

Randomizer
Go to Patrick's Tower in the Great Cave and talk to Patrick. Most of the leads are for players on where to go to get graymold and the recipe.

Yes it is a bit confusing but everyting is much easier than in A1 (Avernum). It did however take me some time to work out how I could turn the greymould I had found into a salve in Patrick's Tower even though I had the recipe. My problem was that I took the Hints Book lierally: "make or obtain the salve". I thought that "make" meant I could make it myself. It actually means that I should get someone to make it for me. Randomizer
The hint book uses the Exile 1 text where you could make it yourself with enough alchemy.
Catweasle
This text snippet is also in the Avernum Book of Answers. This is not the only case. There is a more blatant example of the wrong text taken from A1 in the Tower of Sulfras. All I wanted to say, is that if you are used to the rules of one game, it can be a bit difficult to adapt to the new one. For instance the first time I used a boat in this game I spent ages trying to get out it, until I read the instructions that popped up. I was so familiar with the first trilogy that I "knew" how to do it, even if it is different in this game.
Punctuation rains from the heavens
In Exile 1 you HAD to make it yourself and couldn't just obtain it, so that's probably not the Exile 1 text. A1, I don't know about.
Catweasle
It is a long long time since I played Exile 1 but if I remember rightly the situation with Greymould Salve and Hathwisa was the same as in A1: you needed the salve to cure her and you could either find some somwhere or find the recipe, get some geymould and make it yourself. I do not have a copy of the game or of the hints book for Exile any more so I cannot check, but I still have A1 and quote out of the Hints Book: Quote: ... There are also 2 uses of graymold in Erika's Tower. (Also, there is one use of Graymold Salve in Grah-Hoth's treasure room). Make or obtain the salve and then talk to Hathwisa, in the northwest corner of Patrick's Tower. (my italics) Reading the text Make or obtain the salve in AEP I thought it meant the same as in A1. It is however arguable that "make" does not necessarily mean making it yourself. If you get somebody else to make it for you it has also been made. So the Text in the AEP Book of Answers is not wrong, even if it is a bit misleading.
Earth
there was self-made alchemy in Avernum 1, not sure if A2 had it too but A3 it didn't exist.
Catweasle
What on earth do you mean? All games of the first trilogy (ie A1, A2 and A3) had potion making as a skill. In the second trilogy (which I have hardly ever played) the Geneforge engine was used. I do not know enough about those games, to say if you could make your own potions, but I do not think so.
