Tenderfoot Thahd Digital Wino
Is it just me, or does using a light source not really needed? I seem to remember back in A1, if you were in a dark area without a light, you couldn't see at all. Now, things are just slightly shaded, which doesn't really hinder you in any real way. Is there some sort of unspoken hindrance to your to hit chance or something (I do love the Avernum games, but I have got to say, sometimes the lack of understanding how the game works is kind of annoying)? Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
It does make it easier to see switches on the walls and items on the ground if you've got a light on. Apart from that, it's just cosmetic.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
light useful or not depends brightness of your monitor, if you have monitor's brightness high then light isn't useful.
Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
If you're still using a CRT monitor, darker colors can sometimes be tough to see unless you set the brightness really, really high. Light can be useful in this situation.
