Tenderfoot Thahd Samael
Another question. Where does Lord Chuckles go? I got the Gremlin Gold and I looked up and down, checked all the portals and I could find where he went. Am I missing a secret button (easy to miss on occasion) or something? Or did he go to another location in Avernum?
Garrulous Glaahk Sedape
He moves to another alcove in the cave. You just have to keep hunting for him.
Easygoing Eyebeast Triumph
Lord Chuckles will be somewhere else on the first level, I'm pretty sure.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Lord Chuckles is on the other side of the dungeon. However if you leave before killing him you will have to start over from where you first meet him.
Ineffable Wingbolt Superba
I couldn't find him even after killing all of the Gremlins, that before I realized I got he Letter quest but still have to get the Lord Chuckles one. When I got it, I went back and immediately found him where Randomizer says. Maybe this is the case.
Tenderfoot Thahd The Upright Man
There is a blacked out room on the top right corner of the first floor map, is that a real room I didn't find the way to, or is it nothing?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
There are ladders all over the place and one leads there. There isn't anything of value there.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
Somewhat topic related: Any1 "mapped" where each portal and staircase leads? Its nearly as confusing as Golem Workshop at A5.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I started and have most listed in the Item List. The two important ones are the stairs in the southwest corner and the portal east of the center.
Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
For when I did the Lord Chuckles quest (Only appears if you have it) I first found him on the right side the the left. Third time was Click to reveal.. at the entrance. mercy
Garrulous Glaahk ShieTar
The second time I did this quest, I attacked him when I first found him, brought him down to about 1% or so HP, THEN talked to him. And finished him off in the first round afterwards. Hide and Seek is for Kids.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
I attacked him (it) 2nd time w/o talking but still he/it teleported away.
Garrulous Glaahk dave s
The thing is, you don't need to use a staircase or a portal to find him, just walking back and forth. So a map isn't really needed until after you beat him, when you want the treasure, and by then, all the grems are dead so you can wander freely. Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
I found the gremlins were still spawning even after wiping them out. Perhaps I missed one.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Kreador
No, they keep respawning there in the gremlin fort.
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
yea every "normal" enemy respawns occasionally, funniest was that I had cleaned that Slith fortress north from Fort Emerald and after returning from upeer floor Slith mage had respawned and I'm totally sure there wasn't any Sliths alive when I went to upstairs. back to topic: is there room at lower level next to that room with barrier (actually next to ladders leading there) at east? I have tried all routes but haven't found any to there. seems odd place to be w/o room.
Rotghroth Rhapsody txmimi
OK, I cleaned out the gremlin gold caves before I got the Lord Chuckles quest. I've been back through the caves and found only a couple of respawned gremlins. Does this mean I maybe killed LC before getting the quest and now can't do it? I don't have dispel barrier skill yet, so can't get to those chests, but I don't think that has anything to do with LC.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Lord Chuckles starts out in the northeast and flees when he takes damage. He is the only gremlin with dialog so you should remember him.

Rotghroth Rhapsody txmimi
Randomizer, I've done the quest for Mairwen, but the text said my mage level wasn't high enough. On her traits list, the bottom indicator of mage level is a 7. . . how high does it need to be to use dispel barrier?

On her traits list, the bottom indicator of mage level is a 7. . . how high does it need to be to use dispel barrier? I believe the requirement is 11. You really should be raising your basic bottom-tier combat skill for each character every level, or close to it.
Rotghroth Rhapsody txmimi
Hmmm. . . well, I started out raising the bottom-tier combat skill for the priest and mage, then decided it was better to increase their priest and mage skill levels. My mage is overall level 23. I stay pretty confused about this. . .

Fledgling Fyora Sata
Just to contribute to this topic, this was pretty weird. I tried to talk to him and he always teleported away (I didn't find him a second time, maybe I just had explored the other places before and couldn't be arsed to look around for him again. Actually, I just thought he really disappeared completely). Since he always returned to the first spot when reentering the place, I decided to attack him first and ask him later. He didn't teleport away and didn't ever retaliate. He just stood there. Blue tinted friendly npc. Taking hits. After about 30 hits confirming that I wanted to hit him ([a] [a] [enter]) he died and I could complete the quest. I feel like I cheesed it, and it was awkward when Leith-of-all-trades said he wanted to write a song about my adventure. Yeah, great song, maybe an instrumental one would fit. I didn't get the xp from defeating him, but I got from the quest. I'm really not too worried about xp in this game, though. Like stated before in you guys' posts lots of monsters respawn in this game.
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
That's a bug that can be exploited against several enemies in the game, but it makes for a boring fight.

Tenderfoot Thahd mercy
You need to step out of the dungeon in v1.01 if you can't find him again. Enter again, nothing will be respawned, if you cleared out the dungeon before. Do a walkabout of that level, where you enter the dungeon and you'll inevitably find him in an alcove, where he immediately attacks: Then after his HP goes down a good bit, he will throw a hissy fit and teleport away. Continue walking around on same level to find him, hurt him again nicely, then he'll say: - Now I'll go to the place, where you will never go.. - away he teleports.. "Never" is the entrance / exit of the same darned level. Beat him there, and he grudgingly will say: - Now we will do a fantastic final battle! Kill him and get the hell out of there. Go to Leith of Blosk and fetch yer reward.
