Tcheedchee
Just out of curiousity. Has anyone gone through the dread curse? Click to reveal.. You can catch it in the aranea cave NW of Ft. Dranlon. The bounty are three crystals. Would you say the bounty was worth the hardship?
Triumph
Just go pay to get it removed - you get an achievement for it, after all. (The priest in the Tower of Magi does it). Edit: what I wonder: is it possible to get dread-cursed more than once in the course of a game? Or once you get one and remove it, are you immunized? Because I got one, had it removed, and then stuff I feared would cause one (based on pop-up texts), but the priest gave me no option to remove anything, and I couldn't see any indication on my characters' screen that they had a curse. Randomizer
You can get the Dread Curse that I know of by Robbing a certain chest in Formello Robbing a certain chest in the Aranea Cave The game is designed to give it up to 10 times, but there aren't enough places to do it yet. Since it takes less than that to cure it I would say in that case yes.
Soul of Wit
You can also get a dread curse from Adze-Haakai in the ToM. I got one on the same turn that I killed the haakai. It didn't register, perhaps because of the timing of the killing. That would have been my second dread curse, so I can't verify that you can get a second. Randomizer
That's a different type of Dread Curse because it's highly damaging (4000 magical damage) if you don't kill the cause in time. There are a few other that can do that one including Grah-Hoth and the Deathtouch Horror.
Ceiling Durkheim
@Soul of Wit: If memory serves, that one's called "Death Curse," unless the name has changed since A5-6, in which it was also a status effect. Different effects and duration, as Randomizer says. I got dread curse twice in my last playthrough, so I can confirm that you aren't immunized after the first time. Punctuation rains from the heavens
Yeah, Dread Curse is the trait that says it lowers your general effectiveness, Death Curse is the status effect that kills you after a few rounds. Lilith
in fairness, being dead also lowers your general effectiveness
