Tenderfoot Thahd Niteside
Perplexed. What language is it? Why do so many people say it? What does it mean? It is weird!
Easygoing Eyebeast Jerakeen
Are you talking about the game soundtrack? If so, it doesn't mean anything, it's just meant to be background noise. You'll hear the snippet I think you're referring to in any populated area, such as Avadon or Goldcrag. You can also hear it in the later Avernum games. springacres

Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Oh, he has. He just hasn't told us. —Alorael, who likes to believe that it is fact an entire language in which that is the only phrase. Pitch, intonation, and body language make all the difference. The phrase isn't always identical, either; it just sounds that way to non-native speakers.

Articulate Vlish grumblycakes
I could swear one sound clip that can be found in spiderweb games goes "Oren, Oren, f'tach li et hadelet!" which is Hebrew for, "Oren (common boy's name), Oren, open the door for me!". All the speech sound clips sound vaugely semitic to me, I wonder if they in fact recordings. edit: didn't notice the thread was so old sorry. Garrulous Glaahk JamesMighty
It's not Necromancy unless it's a week - a month old? I thought that was the standard rule.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
There's no hard-and-fast rule against thread necromancy. If someone has something to contribute to an old topic and don't feel it's worth starting a new thread over, they're allowed to reply to the old thread. You two, on the other hand, are making posts that contribute nothing to this thread: please stop.
Fledgling Fyora yumehikari
Isn't the town background babble also the same for the Geneforge series? I was under the impression that Jeff found a sound he thought worked and then just ran with it. Incidentally, sometimes in crowded places the background noise sounds exactly like that babble in the background of Spiderweb towns. That could just be because I've experienced Jeff's towns and now have the expectation that crowded areas may have that sound. In which case Spiderweb games have changed how I experience life. Garrulous Glaahk Questionably Legal
Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore' ----- -Nightwatcher I very much like ravens, actually. There are hordes of them where I live, perching on streetlights and fearlessly strutting back and forth on the less taken roads and parking lots. They're like pidgeons in some places, only far more delightfully evil looking. adc.
