Juan Carlo
Any advice on beating Beloch on torment? I have literally gotten him down to like one hitpoint, so I've come SO close, but so far not successful. The frustrating thing is that it all seems to come down to dumb, random, luck. If, for example, he decides to follow up x attack with y attack you are wiped in two seconds. But if he randomly chooses to use a different attack, you can stay alive longer. All my characters are already level 30 so I don't really have the option of leaving and coming back. So has anyone beat him on torment? If so, do you have any advice? Lilith
I'm honestly surprised you're finding him particularly difficult with a level-30 party, although I remember you saying that some of your fighters are invested in Strength rather than Dexterity, so I imagine you're taking a lot more hits than you need to. I hate to say it, but "retrain to better character builds" may be the best first bit of advice for you to try.
Randomizer
You only need one character to beat Beloch on torment so you might be missing things in the fight like watching the text messages to when the shield thins and he is most vulnerable and concentrating your attacks during that time. Also you want range attacks to avoid the curses he uses on nearby foes.
Juan Carlo
Never mind, I did it. It would have been much easier, but I wasn't allowing myself to use resurrection scrolls (I haven't used them all game as I want the achievement). Had I been able to just resurrect Nathalie every time she died the fight would have been infinitely easier. I did try retraining my high strength blademaster to be high dexterity, but it really didn't seem to make much of a difference. All the damage in the fight is magic based and dexterity doesn't seem to affect magic based damage much (maybe I'm wrong? It works well with dodging melee, but it really didn't seem to make a difference at all in terms of dodging Beloch's magic attacks). So once I retrained him as high dex the only difference seemed to be that his attack damage went way down (ranged weapons on a high dex Blademaster do not seem to be as powerful as melee on a high strength blademaster or ranged weapons on a high dex Shima) and he started sucking hard so I trained him back. Although, my Blademaster wasn't really the problem as he can suck up tons of damage. My main problem was that while Shima can fire at the demon from out of range, Nathalie can only hit the demon from within range. So I'd have to bring her in range of the demon to fire at him, and if he decided to do a AOE spell she'd usually die pretty quickly. So since I couldn't resurrect her, if he targeted Nathalie more than once during the first round of the battle (before he damage shield went up) she'd usually die and I'd have to restart as non-magic attacks didn't seem to damage him or his summoned minions much. Without Nathalie around to deal damage my two non-magic guys would get mobbed by the acid ogres. Anyhow, I eventually beat it by positioning my Blade master right up front to take damage, and Shima and Nathalie out of range. I had everyone go frenzy pre fight, then I would only move NAthlie in after the Demon's initial attacks. I'd let her attack and by the time he put up his first shield I could usually get his health down to 1/4. Then it's just a matter of babysitting/healing Nathalie until he drops his shield again (which isn't necessarily easy as if the wizard targeted her or one of the ogres used earthquake and stunned her she'd usually die). It sounds simple, but it just seemed like some random thing would always go wrong. So maybe I was doing something wrong. It worked eventually, though. But I am curious. Who is the one character that can beat Beloch alone on torment?
Randomizer
Shadowwalker, sorceress, and blademaster have been tried and work. But all used range attacks when I used them.
Lilith
Dexterity does help with dodging magical attacks. It's just that Beloch's attack bonuses are high enough that you need quite a lot of it. Around 35 Dex plus some +evasion items is a good target to shoot for. At any rate, congratulations on getting through the fight.
Superba
Beloch is an opponent with whom you better use a large variety of potions and scrolls in your arsenal to recover from curses and other magic. Dex is fantastic but Strenght is however valuable with Beloch in the very first turns of the fight and in times he is not magically covered; the damage BM and SW can cause to him with their blades is significant and will last. The protector demons are not difficult to kill and killing them immediately after they are summoned makes hitting Beloch more effective. Avoid hitting Moritz'kri after he resurrect. The longer the "second part" of the fight lasts, the harder it becomes and if it lasts too long or the party get too far for a while the fight itself will be resetted. Ichthyic
I found Beloch to be much easier than Zeph! Still haven't beat Zeph on Torment yet. key to Beloch: before talking to him: 1. go into combat mode 2. summon a pet (if no shaman, use a wand) and put it right in front of him. 3. buff each character with battle pots, frenzy pots, and shield buff (add resist spell if you have a sorc) 4. position your characters so that each is attacking from a different direction (spread them apart) and put the pet in the space directly in front of Beloch. NOW talk to him and initiate combat. pay close attention to the text marking that the portal has "thinned", and ONLY ONLY ONLY use your skill abilities on him that have timers on them at that point (otherwise, they are pretty much entirely wasted). Otherwise, either attack one of his summons, cast another buff, use a potion, reposition yourself, etc. On my attempts, the first round he was always protected, so wait to attack at least until the second round. If that is the same with yours, you might use the first round to try casting some curses on him instead of damage attacks. He is slightly susceptible to slow and weaken. you should be able to do major damage to him even before he summons the dead mage.
