Articulate Vlish Thirsting Gemstone Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 After I purchased Avadon from the App store, I was unpleasantly surprised to find that I couldn't find the game files any more. Is there a fix for this, or am Is tuck having wasted $20 for a game I can't mod? Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 You can find the game files. Right click the app and choose "Show Package Contents". You can't modify them, however, or it won't run. That's Apple's deal, not Spiderweb's, sadly. Quote
Articulate Vlish Thirsting Gemstone Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Well frag. And I'm guessing Jeff's retun policy can't apply, since it's iTunes. >_< HE'S SOLD OUT, MAN!!! Quote
Well-Actually War Trall A less presumptuous name. Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Yeah, I think the board agreed that access to the scripts is one of the big benefits of paying the full $25 to Spiderweb. And I feel as though Jeff has some sort of refund policy through the MAS, but I'm not sure. It may be worth looking into. Quote
Garrulous Glaahk macdude22 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Code: What is the Mac App Store refund policy? If you experience a technical issue with an app, first contact the developer of the app for assistance. Their support contact information can be found on the app's page in the Mac App Store. If that does not resolve the issue, contact Mac App Store Customer Support. Could Apple be any more ambiguous? Honestly... Quote
Well-Actually War Trall A less presumptuous name. Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I mean Jeff's personal policy, not Apple's vague load of crap they give to everyone. Mac rocks, Apple can be a bit obnoxious. Quote
Seasoned Roamer PhysWiz Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I have played several of the Avernum games over the past few years, purchased from the Spiderweb website. I purchased Avadon this spring in the same way. I would like to purchase the iPad version but I hesitate. I absolutely HATE the business of searching for hidden switches (or even worse, bumping into walls in the early Avernum games). In Avadon, I modified the script as suggested in these forums to make the switches way more visible. I guess I can't do this on the iPad version which will make playing the game very frustrating for me. Since some people like the mystery and others hate switch searching, why can't this be an option built into the game. Or maybe in the character editor. PLEASE........... Also, what about some method of moving the game saves between iPad and Mac or PC so I can play on my iMac for a while and then move to the iPad at other times? Quote
Unflappable Drayk ĐªгŦĦ Єяŋϊε Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 there are probably fundamental differences between pc's and macs that would make that impossible. (though i could be wrong) Quote
Understated Ur-Drakon Earth Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 savegames between pc and mac are incompatible (at least they were at Avernum) and possibly same thing applies to mac and ipad, pc and ipad are incompatibles. if there'll be Avadon for windows tablet then save files between pc and tablet would be compatible. Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Also, there are very few hidden switches in Avadon compared to previous games, and of those even fewer lead to anything really important, so I wouldn't suggest letting that be a dealbreaker for you. Quote

Heh, I remember playing games on Atari ST that had one pixel difference on a black/white screen to mark secret doors. ;-) They seem to be easier to see on the iPad for me, but I hold the iPad closer to my eyes than a computer monitor would be. Still, they're hard to see in some cases, even when the game is very obvious about the fact that there has to be a secret switch somewhere nearby. Maybe an opportunity for a future cheat code? Quote

Yes, an app update with a "showmeswitch" cheat would be very helpful. Quote
Tenderfoot Thahd Jase Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I vote for a "showmeswitch" option for iPad as well. Please! Quote
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 A "showmeswitch" option for all platforms would be nice. Or even better, just have switches that are visible in the first place. Dikiyoba. Quote
Hatchling Cockatrice Quiconque Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 The good news is Synergy's item list includes all the hidden switches, and they are all prominently labelled so you can just do a "find" and read through them to make sure you don't miss them. There aren't a lot. Quote
