LINDYLOU
I don't really want to kill the lord. Do I have to? It doesn't seem to give me any other option. Thought I would be able to decide for myself. I would prefer to have another option on some of the dialogues. There have been many times when I didn't want to kill people but had no choice. Seems like I am a total slave to the Pact! Randomizer
This is one series of fights that you can't get out of no matter what you want to do. It's designed to make you really hate enforcing Avadon's will or reinforce the view that Avadon is always right so I can do want I want just because I'm a Hand. Skwish-E
I am the Hand of Avadon. Why should I not kill this upstart? Am I the only one who enjoys bringing the jack-booted heel of justice down upon the neck of those who would oppose the great and noble Redbeard? Ceiling Durkheim
I might feel better about it if I thought Redbeard qualified as great or noble. Still, while the consequences of killing Carsta'Arl are pretty bad for his subjects, his style of rule is such that I didn't feel too sad beating him down. Even less so Moritz'kri, who's probably the worst person (or at least the worst with any real power) in the game.
Dikiyoba
Dikiyoba wanted to kill Carsta'Arl just for being stupid enough to help someone as obviously evil as Moritz'kri.
Ceiling Durkheim
Well, stupid or evil. Probably a bit of both. Though he was certainly stupid for thinking the Pact wouldn't notice, or that betraying Moritz'kri would actually get him out of trouble. Skwish-E
Of course, I also lay waste to whole towns in Avernum, because oppressing the weak is hilarious. I mean, ... I did it for population control. And I was disappointed that I couldn't even try to kill that sorceress in the Kva lands after making a deal not to kill her. I was wishing for an "I changed my mind. Now that you have bribed me, I'm going to kill you anyway," dialogue option.
thewiseben
Does anyone have any idea how to actually kill this guy? I'm having a devil of a time doing enough damage to the copies. Is there something I'm missing? I also seem to recall some discussion of allies on this quest?
Randomizer
Use an area effect spell or item for the first attack in the round. Watch the screen since only the real one takes damage. Then make sure you pile all the remaining damage onto that one. Every few rounds the real one changes position. Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door.
