Weird Bugs

After playing for a while, at one location, attempting to open doors lead to my opening of my inventory. This issue was fixed with the backtoavadon cheat.

 

However, another problem was that the junk bag was full of "unused" dagger. I could not use the junk bag at all, except to withdraw the unused daggers or permanently decide to place my items into the bag.

 

Edit:

New bug - I cannot drop any items onto the ground anymore and get the message "can't drop anymore items here ( store some items in a different area.)"

 

Now that I open chests or coffins, I see no items even if I hadn't explored it beforehand. This now applies to every chest I open ;-;. Either it is me or every time I save, a little bit of the data becomes corrupted.

Reinstalling does not help. Oh well, just started a new game, wasn't that far anyways.

I've had a couple. One that doesn't go away is sometimes I get stuck with the message "Use Ability before you do that" but no ability is queued. Ususally going into combat then out gets rid of it, but sometimes it even happens during combat.

 

Also, twice got stuck in a loop of combat ending and beginning. Vanvelle? (the hunter who takes you on a spider killing tour in beraza woods I think) got stuck on the last thicket to clear and just kept going in and out of combat, had to enter a building and come back to reset her.

yeah, i had the junk bag problem too. most of the stuff is sold, but some persistently stayed, like the bricks you get from the brick spawner item. i had to throw them out one by one and litter the floor with them.

 

also another, though very minor graphical one i noticed was that if you hold shift to see the names while your characters are off screen, the "roster" image will turn all green, or sometimes purple for no reason.

Another one:

Not sure, if it's a bug. It comes with one of the scarabs. The scarab offers the ability "group mental cure", but the ability doesn't show up in the ability pane. I've checked all the health ability icons as well. There is one that offers cure of 1 curse effect, but none that cures mental effects.

Bug or misinterpretation?

+1. I've found that, in general, items with no sell value aren't sold through the junk bag, with a few possible exceptions.

I too have this coloring issue. Are you by any chance using an older Apple computer. Jeff has mentioned that this is linked to PPC machines.

All new abilities gained by scarabs should show up on the bottom row of the abilities panel. I never had any issues with that. Are you looking in the abilities panel and not the training screen?

I know similar issues have been encountered in earlier games. There seems to some limit on the number of items that can exist in a given zone. If you drop too many daggers and other useless things in an area, it will mess up the game and cause other items in the zone to poof.

Well, yeah, I did look at the abilities panel.
I talk about THE ONE and only ability panel, which you get, when you type 'a' (for abilities tongue ) during combat. Or which you use to reset your quick spell bars.
Why shouldn't there be a bug, which you havn't encountered?

Anyway, any advice how to get the scarab to function?

The abilities gained from a scarab are in the bottom row of the abilities panel and sometimes appear as grayed-out icons for me. They do show text when I hover over them (and function as expected.)

 

The only problem that I can think of is not installing them in the Scarab section of the inventory. They have no effect in regular inventory.

Well, I also did install the scarab in the scarab slot.

But yes, there is one grayed-out icon in the scarab section of the ability panel. And that describes at least the ability I've been missing, although not in the right amount.

The scarab I'm talking about is the Opaline Scarab

but it's close. I'd accept it as the icon for the opaline scarab, if I could only use it...

Still: IF my character can equip the Opaline Scarab, and it doesn't show any red warning about missing abilities or class restrictions, why can't my char use it?

I did some testing, because I started to think, that the malfunction might have to do with the specialisations tree, but I wasn't successful in proving that. I switched the scrab to all other chars, but it doesn't change much. They can't use it either. It doesn't seem that there exists a classrestriction.

I did notice the discrepancy between the text on the scarab and the text in the ability screen. I've never actually tested to see which applies in actual use.

As far as I have noticed, all scarabs work as soon as installed and have no restrictions of any kind. Some group abilities require you to be near the "healee". I'm not sure if that is the issue you're having?

Which does sound like a bug, except that no one else is able to reproduce it.

 

In my game I had the opaline scarab in one of my slots and was able to use it several times without any problems. (Pesky monsters... always charming my fighters... grrr)

It's grayed out for me, too. It also works.

I have my doubts about that, because on misjudgement of ranges other effects are simply just wasted. For example the war chant. Chars out of range just don't get it.

Do you mean it's grayed out for you too, but the curing does work despite of that?

(I'd really like to have that mental cure-spell.)

The weird bug I keep encountering is having a pet out, going up a flight of stairs, and immediately going into combat mode because of some nearby enemy.

 

In this case, my Pet is still stuck on the previous floor. When its turn comes up, I can't move it (no matter where I click I get the 'Character cannot reach that space' error) and it can't attack (I get the 'Character cannot target opponent it can't see' error).

 

I actually ended up having to use consumables that I wouldn't normally have to expend because I was "missing" my Meat Shield and was unable to summon a new one ('you cannot summon a new Pet with one already active' error) for several rounds. frown

After a certain amount of saves in only one slot, the game data tends to become corrupt.

 

It seems that in the WW when fighting the boss and his shaman, I found that I couldn't read the info on my items, and that the monsters did not attack me until I initiated combat mode first.

 

At least I get to explore a lot of places and loot the items laugh

Yeah, I know this :-) The rage of Anja is fun.

I made the quest(s) with different parties and in different dialogue ways, but still the quest sticks when Anja gives it after it's completed with Unni. It's not important, just a suggestion, but maybe the dialogue could be setted to avoid reporting the "double quest" when one of the two is completed.
