Wayfarer Quest Bug(?)

This may be my own fault, but I never received the reward for the first Wayfarer quest. I didn't decide to do the quest until after I met him for the second time (in Khemeria). At this point, I ignored the option to tell him I hadn't done the quest yet. Before I finished the Beast of Khemeria quest, I put the papers in the barrel, but did not return to check the barrel before meeting the Wayfarer again; when I met him in the Jhereth Deeps, I got positive dialogue about finishing that quest, so I know I completed it. However, when I finally did make it back to the barrel, it was still empty. Has anyone else had this problem?

 

I didn't do this quest at all my first time playing the game, so I'm not sure which of the above mentioned things triggered the lack of reward, but I just wanted to point it out, either to be fixed or to encourage future players to complete the quest (and make sure they pick up the reward) before it's too late.

The items automatically transfer to your inventory when you check the barrel for your reward. Did this happen?

Nope. I just went back to make sure nothing is lying on the ground or in the barrel, and there's nothing around. I'm pretty sure my main character's inventory was full the first time I checked. Could this be the problem? (I've completed other quests when my inventory was full, but the items have always dropped on the ground.)

Sometimes items go into one of the other Hands inventory that is with you. Another player reported that happening.

I've checked their inventories too, and the rewards (based on the Synergizer List) aren't there. Again, I've completed other quests where my main character's inventory is full but my other characters had free space (I've never played singleton) and I've never had items go to another character (even though it's apparently possible).

 

Also, for the record, I'm 99.9% sure I didn't add them to my junk bag. It's too late to go back to an old save to be sure, but I've been pretty careful about scrolling through the junk bag prior to each sell.

It does seem like this series of quests is buggy. I skipped the first quest (it timed out, according to the dialog with the Wayfarer.) When I completed the second quest, my reward was not in the box in the Deeps. It was in the barrel from the first quest.

So, where *is* the barrel, anyway? I can't find it to put the papers in it.

The barrel is in the Kva Lands along the north wall on the path leading up to Zhethron's Aerie just past the Abandoned Farmhouse.

Ive dug up this topic because the same happened to me, but if there is someone else that happens to have this theres a solution.

If you have a save before you meet the wayfarer for the third time (like an autosave at the beginning of the jhared deep) you can go back to the barrel and get the items. If you put the information at the barrel, leave the screen (go to goldcrag for example) and come back the reward should be there.

I've tried going back AFTER meeting the wayfarer for the third time but there was no reward.
