Flipstylez
Um, yea. I can't beat the game now, no more Living Tools for the final battle. Unlock won't work for these. I used/bought all the living tools in the world, (I need a total of 12 tools, I only have 2 left). arrrghhh
Dikiyoba
Yeah, living tools are really tight in this game. The earlier games didn't have this problem. You don't absolutely need a bunch of living tools for the other final battle, but having them makes for an easier fight. If you don't mind a bit of cheating, there's a way to get more living tools. First find a sign you can easily access. Then find the dialogue script for that zone. It'll be in the Scripts folder, which is probably in a folder called Geneforge 5 Files. You're looking for a file that has the abbreviated zone name your sign is in and ends in dlg. (For example, the dialogue script for the Dera Bridge zone is z63dbridgedlg.) Make a copy of the file in a safe place as a backup. Then open the file and find the state that has your sign text. At the end of that state, add this text to the script: Code: code = reward_give(255);reward_give(255);reward_give(255);reward_give(255);reward_give(255);break; Then you can go back to the game, read the sign, and get the living tools you need. Good luck. Dikiyoba.
Flipstylez
well it's fine if I had a "hint" or somethin that I would need 12 living tools to beat the game (allied with Ghaldring). I'm sure everyone had this problem, what did you guys do? I doubt that you had 12 living tools with you at the end. btw, thanks Dikiyoba. That will be my last resort. Randomizer
My first time on the Shaper side saw me short of living tools because I forgot about the unlock spell. I had to decide what doors I wanted to open.
Flipstylez
yea, that's what i came to realize too. But i did carry the +1 +2 mechanics items. So that part, i was good. But now, i'm just aggressively fighting them through brute force. lost all my potions and creations... barely made it out alive. lol had to go out everytime i took out one. heh. A less presumptuous name.
I always tend to save my living tools, only using them when I have obscene amounts. I always bumped my mechanics up high in the beginning and waited to get a lot of stuff until after I got unlock.
Øther
Unlock works wonders for saving living tools, but the sad thing is that most people seem to just forget that it's there.
The Ratt
It also doesn't give you experience like using living tools to unlock stuff does.
Øther
Still, that experience is minor and overall doesn't matter too much. You will be using those living tools anyways, on the more difficult locks, so you do actually still get the experience.
The Mystic
It's a bit of a trade-off of convenience versus getting experience points. Either you pick the lock and get experience, or use the Unlock spell (or the right key, for that matter) and get no experience. But yeah, the amount of experience you gain (or not) doesn't add up to much in the long run.
