Not that I'm complaining, it just seems a bit premature.

See, on the one hand, I was going to do it as a perk to whoever had the greatest backstory, but then I realized that doing that would require them to change that very backstory, which seemed kinda pointless to me. So I simply rolled dice (and by "dice" I mean "the random function on Excel"), and whoever got the highest ones got first shot at powers. In the interest of full disclosure, here is the list I rolled up:

1. Monroe

2. Niemand

3. Safey

4. Nioca

5. Cthulu

6. DOOM

7. Nalyd

According to the schedule, the first session is THIS SATURDAY at 6:00 CDT! If you have NOT submitted and finalized a character That I approved by then, you WILL be dropped. (Although I can and will run a campaign with 7, I am looking for an excuse to drop someone. If all seven make it to Saturday, I'll just run with it.)

PST is 3 hours behind CDT. However, PDT is only two hours behind CDT, so it depends on whether you're observing Daylight Savings Time or not.

In short, just find the one that matches from the following:

1:00 PM HAST

2:00 PM AKST

3:00 PM AKDT

3:00 PM PST

4:00 PM PDT

4:00 PM MST

5:00 PM MDT

6:00 PM CDT

Okay, so I have three things to run down before today's session begins. Firstly, Safey has informed me that he will be dropping out of the campaign. Our party size is down to 6 now, so that's good.

Second, the last character, our demoman Frank Pulver, has arrived.

Finally, and on a more serious not, my internet connection was down this morning for about 8 hours, and it only got back up through an act of god (and by "god", I mean "comcast"). This, combined with storm warnings for my area, could mean trouble. If I don't show up or suddenly leave the chat halfway through the session, presume that my internet is down and the session is rescheduled for 6 PM CDT tomorrow, where the calender says everyone can still make it, and we'll just pick up where we left off.

That leaves me with 3 points for the bank. I'd like to up my weapon skills further, but I can't do until next time. Or who knows, if we find an exciting new melee weapon, I could use those points to become proficient in it nice and quickly. If one of you happens upon something cool like that (since looting seems to occur mostly in secret), don't hold out on Dana! I'll totally trade you for it. And it'll be good for the party, as well. Though not so much for our enemies. wink

Hope the next session will be planed soon!

  • 2 weeks later...

Yay for not-dead RP's!

Okay, we're back in business now, I'm back from my trip, and everything is ready to go. The calender is here, please fill it out ASAP. This Saturday would be best, but i'd like to get it in earlier than that if possible.

I promise cross my heart to have the log for Session 1 posted within 24 hours of now. Seriously. You can slap me with a trout if I don't.

Okay. Do you know how much fun it is to edit a 45-page log? It's about as much fun as aborting a root canal with an unsanitary sledgehammer through your nose. I'm not even sure that I'm allowed to mix that many medical metaphors without at least two MD's, but I will go ahead with it anyways. In other words, it was an immense pain. But, the pain is done, and HEREis the final product!

While running though the log, I also ran up some stats for the d20's (no d5's included) rolled in the session. The results were interesting.

Click to reveal.. (Warning, data ahead!)
n = 118

μ = ~11.5

σ = 5.38

mode = 9

Median = 11

Q1 = 8

Q3 = 16

1's = 5

20's = 5

Basically, I'm shocked that the party did this well. You averaged a point away from the mean, even after nearly 120 rolls, and what's more, you had 25% of all you rolls over 16! With only two critfails the entire session, it appears that the dice were greatly in your favor, despite claims to the otherwise.

Yay. Now I do not have to get hit by a trout.

A high mean can disguise the fact that one is always rolling low at the worst possible moment. To properly assess luck, you'd have to assign each roll a leverage factor and weigh the result accordingly. If you did, I'm sure you find the party always averages about a 4.

Eh, the party actually did pretty well in those regards too. There were a couple of failures, but all-in-all, we tended to roll well when it mattered.

Naturally, this situation is intolerable and will be corrected by the RNG next session. tongue

Also, something else. I downloaded the log, but the whole thing is in Times New Roman (i.e. not fixed-width). It makes the battle grids illegible. Plus, some of the symbols on the grid seem to have been corrupted. This MAY be on my end, but you may want to check the log to make sure it's not screwed up.

I had the exact same problems when I tried to read the log. It's like...a rotten log. wink

Yes, I know. The logs were saved in a Chrome HTML file, and that file handeled all the obscure special characters in the grids by assigning them a value based on regular characters, for example a-! seemed to be the code for the dark square, etc. I might go ahead and alter them based on my log and your combat movements, but again, that's a lot of work.

I think it's due to file corruption or poor coding- viewing the whole thing in a fixed width font does nothing.
