Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Hey, you know what monsters I miss from the original trilogy? Hydras. Where did all the hydras go?
Garrulous Glaahk Unplayable Playable Character
Fond memories of feeling good about myself after beating one at a lower level than I should be come to mind.
Chittering Clawbug K_I_L_E_R
Let me paraphrase the OP. If given a choice, would you live with your parents indefinitely? I, of course, voted "no".
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
Well, but Sergeant NIchols doesn't have broadband.

Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
I remember two baby hydra in the nephilim fort in X2/A2. But I bet the chitrachs were already infesting the eastern gallery back in X3 as they had already reached Upper Exile by then... ...Unless the Vahnatai introduced them to upper exile. Huh. That seems pretty odd, since hydras and chitrachs apparently coexisted peacefully in Vahnatai lands: in E2, at least one Vahnatai town sells hydra meat. Kyshakk Koan Monroe
There was also that one dungeon where the hydras and chitrachs were fighting each other, though, right?
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
They clearly coexisted in Vahnatai lands, but the dungeon Monroe mentioned (also what I was thinking of) suggests it wasn't too peaceful. However, in checking this I also realized that the Nephil fort in question is the one near Fort Ganrick. Avernite soldiers (aka the PCs) encounter hydras and nonchalantly call them by their names before Bon-Ihrno appears in Formello... so they can't have been totally unknown to Avernites before that. They may only have gone higher in the caves after the Resting began to end and the Vahnatai reclaimed their lands, but this does suggest at least some were in Exile proper. Ineffable Wingbolt Milla
I've been wondering, did Avernites invest in trying to improve the flavour of their foods on a larger scale? You'd think between A3 and A4 that they'd look into it. I remember in A1 there was one inn in the eastern gallery with tasty food but you were too scared to ask what was in it. Kyshakk Koan Monroe
By the final Avernum, there is at least one restaurant that serves surface food. I get the feeling that if an Avernite really cared about how his food tasted and had the cash to pay for it, it was available.
