ParsnipBake
Hi, I've been dipping into all these amazing demos, Avernum 6 being the first, which I love. It's so funny! Anyway, I've been giving Geneforge 5 a go. I Love the story, although I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't seem to have the same controls as Avernum 6 i.e in Avernum 6, tapping 'U' brings up the 'Search/Use' function, and everything on screen is lettered, meaning I don't have to scroll around everything with my mouse pad to see which bits are interactive. Secondly, I was kind of hoping that you could move your character with the up/down/left/right arrows, again as with Avernum. And thirdly, in the Inventory, it seems you have to tap an item on the ground and then drag it to your pack (unless you type the letter), whereas in Avernum you only tap once and it's there in your pack. (this one I can live with due to the lettering system). As you can tell, I'm not much of a mouse person. Have I missed something? Is there a way to do any of these things before I get deeper into this one? Otherwise this is a wonderful game! Thanks in advance
A less presumptuous name.
There are tons of keyboard functions. Typing "G" for "Get items" opens up your backpack, for example.
ParsnipBake
I spotted those keyboard functions, but they still don't seem to help me with the three things I mentioned above, unless I'm being (very possibly) dense?
Randomizer
The game series use different interfaces and even between the games there are differences. Avernum 5 inventory was closer to Geneforge. Part of the reason Geneforge games don't have the "u" command is it makes it easier for Jeff to hide objects like levers to open doors and containers behind other objects. Neossokrass
You can edit some of your preferencess in your options menu (shortkeys, mostly). But yeah, it does take some getting used too. Mosst new players to Geneforge also find stealth very hard in this game until they've gotten used to the game engine.
