Neossokrass
So, I'd like to pose the question. These two skills have been invaluble throughout the games. But, I am curious as to what you, the player, found more useful.
Sleeping Dragon
I find mechanics more useful, since it allows you to open things, giving you ten times the loot you would get if you had no mechanics. It can also keep a mine from blowing up in your face, which is, to me, the most annoying way you can die. Leadership is just not as useful or as fun. You can talk your way out of a fight, but then you miss out on the right. Sometimes you can get someone to help do a quest with or even for you, but again I feel like your just missing out by not doing it yourself. I'm all for asking for help in real life, but in games it's just not as fun.
Desmarestia
Mechanics, definitely. A hallmark of the RPG genre is that you are encouraged to go where you aren't permitted and take what isn't yours. Lethal obstructions such as mines and pylons are often placed in an effort to deter such behavior, and disarming them is preferable to dying in fire. Dikiyoba
Mechanics is more useful, but only slightly. Leadership also nets you some treasures and a lot of times you can get double experience by convincing someone not to attack you and then attacking them anyway. Dikiyoba would honestly not like trying to play a game without much in mechanics or leadership.
Randomizer
Both because they net you extra experience. Leadership gives you options where you can gain experience, but you have to be careful because sometimes, like the thahds in the Foundry Promenade workshop it can deprive you of experience by avoiding the fight. In some places you can get the leadership experience and then attack the monsters for bonus experience.
Sleeping Dragon
Although I have no examples to back this up, I always assumed that even if you avoid a fight through leadership, you risk making people that shouldn't be hostile to you hostile by attacking them afterwards. You never know. Well, some of you probably do. The worst is when you actually have the option of skipping quests entirely by using leadership, such as the quests you need to do to gain the trust of factions in Geneforge 2. Who would want to skip those?

Sleeping Dragon
Ah, now you see, there's something I've never tried. I've never betrayed a faction I've joined before. Not sure why. I guess I would just feel dirty.

Yeah, I guess you could do that, but feeding Control Four is a waste of mind nutrients that you could use somewhere else anyway. I'd consider skipping that quest even if I was only planning to join the Obeyers.
Barzhal
You get a good deal of experience for feeding control four. Feeding the mind at the eastern docks is probably the best mind to skip as he distracts the shaoli who, by the end, are not difficult (or hostile if you helped Trajkov). Spddin Ignis
leadership is more fun, but mechanics is more useful.
