Garrulous Glaahk jimbob
I remember that way back when there was an interesting Xian Skull thread that stretched for a good number of pages. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to that thread, since it was rather entertaining to read. I have searched for it, but I have found nothing (maybe I am not trying hard enough?) Also, if for some reason I am not supposed to ask about where the thread is, then please do not beat up on me, okay moderators? Thanks to everyone who helps me find this excellent thread! Magnificent Ornk nikki.
No, neither. The original Xian Skull thread might possibly be on PPP (and if it is, it'd be one of the earlier threads, I believe), but the archives are currently down, so there is no way of knowing. Garrulous Glaahk jimbob
PPP? I do not remember what that is, could you post the link for it? I guess I will just wait for the archives to be back up, then. Thanks to everyone who responded!
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
The PPP, or "Pied Piper Project" is a complete (or nearly complete) back-up of every thread and every post from SW for the past 4 or so years. Currently, they aren't working because the server was being overloaded. Here is a link, though it's useless at the moment: http://pied-piper.ermarian.net/
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
It was pruned prior to the first PPP, actually. Sorry. Nowhere to be found.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Yeah, it's totally lost. The Wayback Machine has snapshots of forum lists that list Xian Skull as a topic (with many, many pages) but unfortunately, despite an exhaustive number of queries I made, there don't seem to be any records on any archival date of a single page of that topic. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
It's better this way. Legends can't be born in the presence of accurate history. —Alorael, who has heard that every single post in the Xian Skull thread was made by a dazzlingly intelligent and blindingly attractive person of impeccable wit and personal hygiene. Is it true?
Garrulous Glaahk jimbob
That's too bad. You would think that if they kept anything, they would keep that legendary thread. Oh well.
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Its loss is one of the reasons it's a legend. I don't know if it directly inspired PPP, but the loss of threads like Xian Skull was one of the reasons PPP began.
Garrulous Glaahk Misc Staple
I saved the first page of the Xian Skull thread. Here it is: Topic: Xian Skull! Inept Brigand Apprentice Member # 2070 posted October 12, 2002 05:24 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Can anyone here justify why exactly the Xian skull serves any purpose? What is it for? I carry it around, as I have done since I found it at a ritual site surrounded by Ogres. The skull makes various out of character remarks as well as some useful bits of information which is understandable? Where would this skull go? Do I keep it indefinitely? But if you don't have a high Bocci Ball Lore, you can usually get the key from that Bocci Ball nutcase if you offer him a pack of skribbane cigarettes. Of course you have to arm wrestle Lebowski in Woodinville to get those, and your strength has to be at least fifteen to win, so it's usually better to go with the Bocci Ball Lore if you want to get into the Smith Tower. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posts: 238 | From eye socket gultch | Registered: Sep 2002 | IP: Logged Uranium-235 Adept Member # 1359 posted October 12, 2002 07:11 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This topic has become highly disturbing, I wonder how long it will last. -------------------- ~ $ø‹¡µm ¢ÿåñ¡‹ë ~ •NaCN says: Click here ==> * •Today's quote taken out of context: "Sweet zombie Jesus on a pogo stick!
