It's been a while, so I honestly don't remember, but from the walkthrough it looks like it's either the control room (where you can turn off the machinery that effects your creations) or something to do with a quest from Shath. 3. Other than the online stuff already mentioned, the official "Book of Answers" contains a high level map strikingly similar as well area maps for more complicated areas and lots of other good stuff.
