Ranged Assassination?

Recommended Posts

I've always been pro assassination for ranged weapons (not magic). It would make them significantly more powerful, and it doesn't really make sense to me why you would be able to assassinate someone using a sword, but not using a javelin? But then, it also doesn't make that much sense that you "assassinate" someone in an open battle, and that the assassinated doesn't die instantly but only takes more damage than from a normal attack.

It's like a sneak attack in D&D, but without the having to sneak up on someone!

Since it is only rarely either literally or metaphorically an attack in the back, it makes sense.

—Alorael, who finds it amusing that sniping is apparently not assassination in Avernum. No, the classy killers do it up close and personal. With their halberds.
