Tenderfoot Thahd pndrev
A while back I stumbled upon the Avernum series, more specificalls A3. Played a bit, but never had the time to finish it. Recently I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, and am thinking about purchasing the complete bundle, from A3 to A5 (and later A6). However, the last demo of A4 that I tried refused to run unless I set my desktop to exact specifications (800x600, 16bit) - which is a complete no-go for me. I prefer windowed in the case of low resolution games. Was that just the demo back then, or is that still the case? Does A5 suffer the same problem? A3 is able to run windowed no matter what the desktop settings are.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
I'm pretty sure A4 asks you at startup whether it can change your desktop resolution. Just click yes and it will run. When you exit the game, your desktop will be returned to normal. But why don't you download the demo and try it out for yourself?
Tenderfoot Thahd pndrev
The thing is, it messes with the secondary monitor when I have one monitor running a different resolution / colour depth. And on 21", fullscreen 1024 looks a lot worse than windowed 1024. But you're right, I'll try the demos again.
Tenderfoot Thahd pndrev
It isn't as bad as I remember it. Just send the money via PayPal, I hope that works as described.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Great! I'm glad they work for you.
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
Yeah, I also have two monitors. Running fullscreen Spidweb games screws up the secondary monitor, with one monitor's desktop running onto the other. It all gets fixed when I quit the game, however. Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
The only way to get into Windowed mode except for Geneforge 5 is to use an emulator.
Curious Artila Insurgance
dxwin works fairly well for running games in window mode... but the mouse pointer has a hard time keeping up... at least for me
