Mine would be the trall, since it has ranged physical damage, and is pretty powerful, or the rotter with it being pretty tough and haveing poison or acid damage. But I chose Ornk because it is just fun to make, and because I can cheat and make it powerful.

Fyoras, and especially the ones in the earlier games. Because they *are* cute.

In G5, I found a new respect for glaahks. A couple of glaahks, blessed and covered in Thorny Aura, were enough to pin and take down a Gazer with little fuss. Plus, the stunning ability is always nice.

However, last game it was probably the Kyshakks or wingbolts. Probably wingbolts, as Kyshakks (I think) didn't get their lingering attack until this game.

Kyshakks have had lingering damage from their lightning aura attack since G4. The problem is that their direct damage plus the lingering damage is still less than the total damage from a Wingbolt's attack.

Actually, wingbolts have slightly higher armour than kyshakks. Kyshakks do have more HP, but it's a flat numerical bonus, which gets less significant as you level up your creations. As Slarty points out, wingbolts survive better than kyshakks against magical damage, and most of the strongest attacks in the game (Unbound, gazers, other wingbolts) are magical.

Wingbolts are tanks in the sense of armored things with big guns. Amusingly, one of their big weaknesses is other wingbolts. They don't take damage, but they also don't really deal very much.

Rotghroths are also a nice fourth tier creation, but I don't think they quite shine like wingbolts until you get rotdhizons. Hundreds of damage (including acid) twice per round and solid survival make them great swarm killers, great hit and runners or chasers (they run fast!), and quite good in general because their damage works well and isn't heavily resisted. As a bonus, they do resist all that nasty acid.

—Alorae,l who honestly only uses tralls for their projectiles once he has rotdhizons. He likes them far more than any acidic zombie thing deserves.

Wingbolt against wingbolt? I found that that was one of the worst engagements. My wingbolts were doing about 100+ damage to every enemy they attacked, but when directed to another wingbolt (or gazer) they rarely reached more than 80...

It seems that physical damaged worked better against enemy wingbolts.

(I was using a rebel warrior btw)

It was a hard call. Rotdhizon wasn't a choice, so I picked rotghroth. It really is a close tie with wingbolts, though. If you have both of these in a Shaper party, it takes some real effort to lose a game. Drayks and war trolls also are awesome, and I always have them in my party, but they are really just there to pick up the pieces when the others meet resistance. Kryshakks have a great missile attack and lots of health, but they appear to have a too-high miss ratio. Does anyone know the stats on this? Their missiles seem to miss a lot.

Also, for a good part of the game, the clawbugs and vlishes do a great job. I don't think either goes to the end game very well, though. Artillas have been longtime sentimental favorites of mine, but I wasn't crazy about them in G5.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but to me rotghroths seem a bit squishy.

Dikiyoba's favorite creation is the cryoa. They're very good creations when you get them and you can keep them alive and useful throughout the game without too much difficulty.

Rotghroths aren't amazingly durable. They do fine, but I don't think they're good end-game tank material. Rotdhizons do much better (as they should, since they cost more than war tralls).

No, you can't shape podlings or patchworks without modifying the game, and once you do that your favorite creation might as well be an army of Barzahls.

—Alorael, who actually thinks that might be a strong recommendation right there against shaping humans.
