A3: Timeline of Valorim Destruction

Kay, so, here I am with another question. (Actually, I'd also like to know when exactly you can get the Jewel of Return...it's after you solve the slime plague, right?)

 

Anyway, I'm wondering exactly what happens over time in terms of Valorim's destruction. I know some towns are damaged and then destroyed, but what towns? Where? Are there any useful sidequests I may miss by accident if I spend too much time on anything? Mainly I'm asking because I want to make sure I get the most out of playing the game this time around. (And I'm trying a bit of a different tactic, going at it with a party of four mage/priests.)

Towns will get destroyed, but key characters for quests should survive even if displaced. There have been reports of some named NPCs not being found later so minor characters like Anama Priests might die from the roaches.

I haven't been able to find that thread, but if what you saw is true, then there shouldn't be any problems with a quest suddenly not being accessible, which is mainly what I'm worried about.

there are 200 threads which contain word valorim so not that easy to find w/o better hint.

I looked but couldn't find the topic I was thinking of that had most key dates. I found one here and one in Exile Trilogy that give a few dates for the Formello murders and Tower of Magi, but nothing else.

While we're at it: how do you tell whether a town has been destroyed, or it was in ruins from the start of the game? And what happens if you set back the day timer to before it was destroyed?

I don't know anything about the "set date" feature. It never seemed to work for me. I do know, however, that there only are so and so many towns that have been damaged or destroyed from start, and they're not that hard to memorize. There's pretty much just Footracer Province, Colchis, and a few minor ruins here and there.

From looking at the Exile 3 files, there are multiple versions of the big 5 towns: Krizsan, Shayder, Sharimik, Lorelei and Gale. The initial version of each town is undamaged. For other towns go to the Character Editor and use the Change Day function.
