Garrulous Glaahk Davies
So I've managed to get the entire populations of these towns mad at me by killing a bunch of soldiers. Of course, this makes getting the strange metal that I've found to that Carmine fellow a bit problematic. About how long is it going to be before they get over their irritation? Chris Davies. Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
I think if you visit a couple of towns and wait for a couple of days to pass they get over it. If they stay mad, you might have to use the character editor to make them nice again.
Well-Actually War Trall Rowen
You could just do gorilla attacks on the towns and slowly pick off all the residence one by one. A dead town can't hate you.
Unflappable Drayk Toby-Linn
Yes, but if the town is angry at you, does that mean Carmine is angry as well? If he attacks you on sight, you can't get his help with the strange metal.

I really hope that I don't have to use the editor -- I've turned it off, and resetting it the last time wiped out my registration. I really don't want to have to contact the company twice within the space of a month ... Chris Davies.
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
I think in E3 it was you have to visit four other towns without visiting the angry town for it to reset and for unimportant people you killed to come back. It's probably the same for Avernum.
Garrulous Glaahk Davies
It does not seem to be working that way. I've visited pretty much every other town in Karnold Province, and a few days have passed since my "crime". And they're still mad at me. I'm never getting that Mithril Sword, am I? <sigh> Oh well, yet another thing for the next run-through. Chris Davies.

Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
I may take up to a game month before the anger goes away except for Shaydar that never gets over it (stupid Anama).
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
Don't you need to take a ferry in a town to get off the Isle of Bigail? If you anger the Anama, can you ever get off the island? I think I had to start over once because of that, but it was a long time ago. Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Amulet of recall or word of recall spell will get you off the Isle of Bigail. I don't think angering Shaydar prevents you from using the other ferries.
Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
I thought angering one town angered them all. At the beginning of the game, when one could expect to have reason to be on Bigail, you don't have Word of Recall.
Garrulous Glaahk Davies
Well, it's been a month of gametime, and they're still mad. Oh well. I guess my party's cleric is just going to have to be satisfied with her Enhanced Fine Waveblade, instead of the Mithril Sword. Chris Davies. Easygoing Eyebeast The Mystic
In the Avernum series, towns don't automatically revert to being friendly. You have to go into the character editor and reset them.
