Skunky Joe (SPOILERS)

Recommended Posts

Ya know, Skunky Joe is actually quite easy to take out early, even on Torment, if you get the drop on him. Which of course you can, if you just creep along the north wall of the Eastern Gallery. Be blessed and hasted, hit and run so he chases you, then hit Joe with a couple of Slows, and maybe charm one of his archers. Don't let him get a shot off, or he'll wipe your whole party fast.

This gets you Lightning Spray a little sooner, which is nice.

Yeah, Arghhhhhhhhh. At some point, you find that $27 is cheaper than spending all your time trying to play the game through everyone else in the forum. It also causes less irritation for the other people in the forum. Not that I can talk about irritating people... *cringes in corner, waiting for blow to fall*

I've never had all that much trouble with Skunky Joe. The trick is getting sufficiently buffed before facing him and then charging into melee as fast as possible. For whatever reason A4's casters seem to panic and fail to cast usefully once someone is waving a swords in their faces.

I think that worked for just about every situations where bandits tried to levy a toll. Ah for the good old days of half-blind bandits...

There were several kinds. Some just didn't notice you until you gave 'em a tap on the shoulder with something pointy. Some noticed and demanded payment, but then were willing to let you go on through as long as you make a token effort at fleeing (usually conversation option 3). A small, sanguine few were so mellow that they wouldn't even become hostile when attacked (by conversation option one) and had to be forcibly motivated to fight back (by vigorous poking with swords and spears).

—Alorael, who believes Skunky Joe was in category two.
