Yeah, having to press ESC turned me off buying the game tbh. It drives me crazy... But I keep hoping one day a patch, or new game, will fix the problem!

I don't even own the Linux version (yet!) but I just wanted to give you credit for coming back and posting the solution. I salute you.

Little things abound that bug the hell out of me, for example, a hotkey that opens the inventory but the same hotkey doesn't close the inventory.

 

Being forced to either click the checkmark or move over to the ESC key just drives me batty.

 

I know exactly how you feel. I'd love to see this in a patch maybe.

I currently have the demo, but would go back and put some money down for little fixes like this.

I agree, it is very annoying. I'll make you a deal Spiderweb... fix this up and I'll purchase my copy!

Windows

• Player can use hotkeys to toggle windows open and closed. Currently, hotkeys can only open a window. Player must press the Esc key or use the mouse to close the opened window.
