Yeah, I was in the Avadon Fortress when I wrote that. I, too, spent about an hour uncovering everything and backtracking before I finally gave it up as a lost cause. I was hoping it would tie up that plot thread earlier, but I'm guessing there's a reason for Tarkus popping up later in the game. This is not the type of game where skimming the text works. The reason I'm playing it is because of the story, with all its twists. It's fun to follow. Reminds me a lot of Baldur's Gate, and Planescape: Torment, both games which I love. My young son couldn't get into it, because of the difficulty and the necessity of reading a lot (and no autojournal -- but the Record function is very nice). But he is a child of the Oblivion and Skyrim era, where my first CRPGs were Ultima II and Wizardry -- walk around til you find it, take notes, and pay attention.

I can't seem to locate the escaped prisoner Shadow Tarkus. I've been about everywhere in the dungeons and lower cells the annotated maps claim I can get to. Even the maps don't seem to mention Tarkus. I've even talked to Redbeard. Is it possible to find him? Am I looking in the right areas?

I'm at an impasse. I have slaughtered all the wretches I can find, and let the Ogre go (I assume I'm going to have to kill him, but I want to be higher level when I do). All the forum posts I can find have to do with the upper levels. I need some help for the lower levels, please. I have looked at the Annotated Map, and it seems that pretty much all the places I need to go are blocked off. The Wolf Tunnels are blocked by gates. The Chief in the extreme NW corner is blocked off by both gates and water. The way I came is blocked by a cave-in. Some of these gates can be opened if you're on the correct side of them. I am stuck on the wrong side. I've let the prisoner out and he's wandering around with us, just as clueless as us about how to get out. There's gotta be something I'm missing, but what?
