  1. The zone is White Wastes, which looks like number 68 in the scripts folder. Taking a look, the files aren't exactly... easy to read for someone with my inexperience. xD There's two files, one's 'dlg' and the other isn't.
  2. This one's a long shot but you tech-minded folks might be able to help me. I'm kind of a pedantic completionist when I play games with faction divisions. I like to make a BIG save after doing as much neutral stuff as I can, then progress down to all the faction endings in order to experience as much of the game as I can in one go, since let's be real, these games are longer that God's penis and when there's 4/5 factions that's just too many to leave for future playthroughs. Worked great for G1, 2, and kiiiinda 4, though I only got the 'helped the rebels' version of the ending. Not too fussed about 3 and 4 though since with only TWO options I can just play the Shaper version in a year's time. For G5, I decided to again play rebel-aligned, however with that Shaper Cora...Cora... something... guy-who-can-make-Shapers-forget-you're-rebel-scum, I figured I could still give all 5 factions a crack if I was careful despite making rebel decisions throughout the meat of the game. I ALMOST succeeded in this, but I buggered up Taygen. Didn't realise helping Camp Dranir locks you into failing his first loyalty quest and totally shuts down any ability to join him, so now all my saves are from too far in and there's nothing I can do. HOWEVER, I remember back in 3 when my rebel PC buggered up Icy End by annoying a drakon in a nearby location, wound up turning the town hostile and screwing me out of some quests. A google search saved me, someone had some miracle code thingy in answer to another forum question that just... made Icy End friendly again. Entered it, worked a treat, got my content back. So uhh... in short... MAGICAL COMPUTER PEOPLE, HELP. xD Is there any kinda totally cheat-tastic code to trick Tay-tay into thinking I didn't bugger up? If not, ehhh, I guess 4/5 ain't bad, but I kinda wanted to see what that horrible nazi bastard had to offer, dammit. Replies to the tune of 'you're a bad roleplayer' need not apply, I am aware of myself and fully accepting of it.
  3. Bear in mind everything I say has a distinct Australian accent, so personally I find Jen-Ehh-Forge to suit the tongue far, far better than 'Gene' as in DNA. In terms of an in-universe explanation, I would call your attention to the fact that often similar bases of words are pronounced differently for different words in real life. There are better examples, but take photograph and photography: Photograph, we pronounce 'Pho-TOE-graph'. Photography, we pronounce 'Pho-TOG-raphy'. The sound is different, but nobody doubts we're talking about photos. The Geneforge is concerned with Genes, yes. But you don't need to pronounce it as one would 'Genes' in order to keep that association anymore than you need to pronounce photography as 'PHO-TOE-Graphy.' Conclusion? There is no standard pronunciation, not unless Jeff Vogel himself says there is one. However, there's a decent argument behind pretty much every pronounciation you can think of. Except maybe 'Jen-Ehh-For-Jay.' That would just be ridiculous.
  4. I believe you're looking for either a 'Crescent Thahd' in the Western Wastes or a (rarer, if I recall) 'Crescent Shade' in Drayk's Vale. Either one will drop a Crescent Stone but you wouldn't know to pick it up if you hadn't been told. That dastardly Spiderweb...
  5. Tech support forum. ....Ah. That -would- be something I didn't notice, wouldn't it? Erm, what generally happens here? Does a magical faerie of moderation wave his or her wand and teleport my thread over to the right place while I hang my head in shame, or is there something else I need to do, repost it, etc? Sorry about that, in any case. And thanks Randomizer, I'll try compatibility mode and see if it improves it or explodes it.
  6. First of all, greetings good people, I am extremely new as evidenced by the whole 'this is my first post' thing. I've known about Spiderweb for many years and always wanted to play the games, but years ago when I played some demos I was underage and my mother held the firm belief that every single online purchase in the world was a scam and that if I spent $20.00 on Geneforge 1, a syndicate of cannibalistic serial killers would extrapolate our address and send out an entourage to our doorstep for a Meet 'n' Eat. Or something to that effect, at least. The moral of the story is that I'm an adult now, I bought the Geneforge Saga and I haven't been murdered so eat that, mother. Still, there is an actual point to this topic. I shall get to that now. I am currently playing Geneforge 2, having finished its predecessor last week. Throughout GF1 the game was mostly stable, though occasionally it crashed in the oddest way - the mouse stopped moving. Keyboard worked fine, game was still running and responding, but the cursor was as dead as an unarmed robber at a firearm store. Tabbing out of the window, the cursor worked fine. Tabbing back in? It took another extended nap. All that worked was to close and reboot the game. It never -lagged-, though. Worked like a charm whenever it wasn't freezing. The crashes were few and far between, happened maybe four times in total, so I didn't really think much of it, other than mumbling an expletive or two when I realised how long ago my last save was. Then came Geneforge 2. I'm encountering these crashes roughly four times a -day-, now, as opposed to four times overall. Most of these occur shortly after startup, though, meaning it'll happen twice and then afterwards on the third booting the game will work fine until I finish my session, so it's not exactly damning. It's just damn annoying. Is this a common issue? I googled it and it's listed on Spiderweb's site as a problem for MAC users, which would be lovely were I not playing on Windows 7. I can soldier on if I have to but if there's a solution somewhere out there in the World Wide Spiderweb, I'd certainly love to hear about it. Thanks. (Oh and before any of you tell me to leave my sanity at the door, SURELY the above post more than proves I have nothing to leave.)
