  1. One of the first options you should get when starting a dialogue with Lethem is "Why are you down here?". If you select that (and you have the quest), you should see "I know somewhere you might go." which leads directly to the quest fulfillment. If you don't see that, please list the options you do get, and we'll see if we can figure it out.

    OMG I overlooked that one.

After 60 hours of gameplay and I still commit baby-mistakes lol

    thx.

  2. Things to double-check:

Are you sure you have the quest in your log?

Are you sure you're talking to the correct person?

Are you sure you're checking all the conversation options with the correct person?

    yep

    I've d-checked that

    Took the quest on kyass

    it's on my quest book

    the mage is lethem

    i've tried all conversation options

Avernum 4 works with steam client:
    Built: April 18 2012, at 10:17:32
    Steam API: v012
    Steam package versions: 1868 / 1868

Avernum 4 does not work with steam client:
    Built: May 15 2012, at 10:21:05
    Steam API: v012
    Steam package versions: 1869 / 1869

There were no changes at all made to the Avernum 4 install during this test, so that presumably rules out an issue due to a change on Spiderweb's side (though they may still be stuck holding the bag to work around the crash).

    Nice work.
Backing up my steam on my lappy so if it gets updated I can still
    play

Is there any way for normal people to revert to an earlier steam client without having a 2nd machine though?

If we are lucky, the steam client version that is on
    http://store.steampowered.com/about/
maybe is still the old one.

BAckup your steam folder or just move steamapps , uninstall steam and install from the link

might worth a try, I cannot test right now bc im at the office
