  1. I think I'll be purchasing the whole series from Steam. But, realistically speaking, I don't have time to play them all. I barely get 4 hours a week for gaming (hence I've been playing Avadon for ages). Should I start from G4, and perhaps read through what happened in the first 3 games online? Obviously ideally I'd play them all, but I have to be realistic. I don't have the time but I'd like to experience these highly esteemed games. Thank you
  2. Realistically speaking, would JZ consider considerable changes to the game engine for future game iterations (excluding Avernum II)? I personally don't mind the retro graphics, I'd just like to see certain improvements in terms of more portraits, more character models etc. As it is the games feel too similar to each other. Not that it will stop me from buying more SS games.
  3. Yeah, my archer is pretty nimble. Rarely gets hit. Less damage though, but still, that's a good tactic. Also, what's a good level to take on the area around Bargha (the Abyss basically)? In the meantime I should go to other places to level up, then come back to kill Drath.
  4. Thank you guys. I guess I am a bit too weak for him right now. He shall pay dearly...soon.
  5. They're all level 21. I'm not sparing his life! I really should have a dedicated healer, but it's too late now. It's my first SS game so I was not familiar with the game mechanics, made a couple of mistakes on the way to here.
  6. He's got the last piece of the Demonslayer I need. I have a save with just him alone, since I managed to dispose of his minions and I left the area, and went back to try and finish him. My group consists of an archer, a mage, a dual wielding warrior, and a warrior/priest which isn't very good, but heals my warrior. I just can't manage to remove even half his health. We keep exchanging blows/magic, but after a while he either attacks the other members (and once the priest or mage dies, I'm toast), killing them in one hit...and then I lose. Any tricks/strategies? Thank you!
  7. I'm more concerned that they never hit anything. Useless, except for soaking up damage for one round or two (then they die).
  8. Ah, I don't have the quest in my quest log. I just did the mission for the peaceful sliths, and the map was on the second floor of the small fortress. How do I get the quest from Scarlet?
  9. Thank you. EDIT: I knew I talked to her before, but the topic of the map never comes up! Why is that? I can only talk about Gnass with her, call her short, and ask if I can do anything for her. None of the options leads to the map. I'm talking to Captain Scarlet.
  10. It's the only thread where I could find the "charred map" mentioned, so I'll post here. Who should I show the map to? The description in the journal isn't very informative.
  11. I tried taking on Pyrog at level 18... Anyway, what are the quest rewards for choosing different people to give the spells to? One of them is getting access to cheaper spells.
  12. Ah, good. I'm not one to replay a game just to try out a different quest line, unless the game offers high replayability (this doesn't seem the case).
  13. I haven't looked at any threads related to the main quests in fear of spoilers. Now, I read on one of Jeff's blog posts that there are 3 main quests. My question is, can only one of them be finished in a playthrough? And are these the main quests: -??? Something related to the Castle? -Kill the slithzerkai (Sss-thss) -Aid the scimatar If I'm wrong, don't tell me what the main questline I missed is. I'd rather be surprised. I have only heard of the Scimatar, and I've done a lot of quests related to killing the Slithzerkais. I'm 30 hours in and I've mostly done side quests from the towns. Thanks!
  14. Yeah, that's what I did. It was around 7EUR cheaper on steam. Plus, I like my indie collection being all on steam.
  15. I can't lower the resolution, because when I tried doing so everything becomes very blurry. I run it at 1680x1050, but yeah, sometimes it's a bit straining on the eyes.
  16. I'd rather the secret switches weren't player dependent, but character skill dependent, like cave lore.
  17. What kind of similarities? And what do you mean by throwing you off your game? As in you start mixing up events happening in one game with another?
  18. I've only just started playing my first Spiderweb game recently (Avernum:EftP), but I've been looking at the other games (Geneforge for instance). I'm really tempted to start G1, but the time and effort required to be put in just one game is already too much! I'd have to wait and finish Avernum first before I can play another Spiderweb game. Is anyone else the same? Or are you able to play multiple games, specifically multiple Spiderweb games, at the same time (not literally at the same time of course)?
  19. Wow, that's true! I guess I'd better use a shortsword then on one of my hands. Does Jeff usually patch his games?
  20. Kind of off-topic, but the weaker weapon should be kept in the off-hand right?
