Well that's a rude way to say anything. Anyhow no I'm not a biologist but my best friend is an evolutionary biologist as a matter of fact and we have discussions about this type of thing whenever we can. She's never told me to "Just stop" like some kind of ass. I have better places where I can go to consider this topic you. And go ahead and delete my account from this forum. This isn't the first time someone has been rude to me on here for no reason. It's not even worth logging back in. Can't say anything without some ass being an ass.
  2. Well it has to do with the fact that males are the risk takers biologically speaking. We can sit in an office building and pretend like men and women have the same role in life. Or we can be honest with ourselves. I think that honesty comes out a bit in fiction. Women's bodies are different from men. A woman's body is a sactuary for the future generations and must be kept safer for longer periods of uninterrupted time than a male who can get many women pregnant then go off to war without risking the immediate well being of his many offspring. This is why men have evolved to aspire to risk. While women have evolved to aspire to nest. There are many many exceptions but this is the general case. It might not even be the majority, it may only be the largest minority. However in general I feel that it is true. Otherwise the human fertility rate would have suffered too much in the past. Anyway the psychology of a human being mimics their biological role. Even though violence is a miserable thing, young boys still tend to have completely unrealistic dreams about it.
  3. Wait a minute is RedBeard modeled after Jeff haha that's awesome

  5. Back when satillite television was brand new, I was playing around in my sister's room with that big huge remote that they give you. And there were buttons for "Guide", and there were buttons for "Menu" and I couldn't tell what the difference for the buttons was. So I started pressing Menu, Menu, Guide, Menu, Guide, Guide, Menu. And I couldn't tell the difference at all. Then, suddenly the TV froze. And then it said, "thank you for your purchase". And I was like, "What purchase?" And BOOM...a bunch of hardcore porn suddenly appears on the screen. So I panic and start pressing Guide, Guide, Menu, ANYTHING to close it and shut down the satelite TV. But I STILL didn't know how to use the huge remote control. And then...just like that it was too late. My sister comes into the room asks me what the heck am I doing. And I just couldn't beleive it. I couldn't say anything because I was too stunned by how pressing "Menu, menu, guide" would just happen to put a bunch of porn on the screen in my sister's room and then I get caught as if I was trying to do that. I mean, I just didn't know what to say. Would I really have intentionally bought porn on my sister's TV? It was just a strand of stupid bad luck. I'm over it now but it was just ridiculous. It was like an episode of a sitcom, only I wasn't laughing.
  6. I would like more non-battle traits and perks that govern speech options in the next one. Like certain perks you can acquire if you have a certain amount given to a particular stat. For example, you may need 15 intelligence in order to unlock the "Very Persuasive" Perk which would allow you to be more persuasive in dialogue for example. So that in some parts of the game a highlighted option will appear that is only usuable if you have the perk. This can be used to balance out the battle system so that it isn't always wisest to build the strongest battle party, but instead you may need to weaken them a bit in order to get better story options and therefore better loot at the end of the day. There could also be traits such as "Cultured" so that people in fancy towns will like you better or, "Good with Authority" so that generals, mages, and roayalty will like you better, you know, such traits as we've seen in Fallout games only Avadon style! Each of these perks may also come with down sides. Such as a cultured character having difficulty communicating with uncultured people and thus finding it harder to talk their way out of bad situations involving such people. On the flip side, a "Man of the People" may have a hard time with cultured folk, but may find it easier to talk his/her way out of having to fight some bandits who feel like that have been cornered. Like in the beginning of Avadon, I couldn't talk my way out of killing those people in the prison. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I would have liked to have been able to just take their stuff and get them to trust me. This was already implemented with the lockpick system to some degree. But I think it was flawed in that you could just save/load if you didn't like the loot behind the lock and use off-characters in order to take the lock pick skill. I think that making the dialogue perks exclusive to the protagonist will force players to commit to a long term strategy in regards to allocating skill points to non-battle talents.
  7. Yeah I'm new too, and I have the exact same problem with Avadon. It's hard to build your party when their are hidden stats and penalties that aren't explained in the character sheet. I've played Baldur's Gate and Drakensang with no real previous DnD experience and I was able to figure things out relatively quickly, but this game just surprises you with stuff and then doesn't explain it, at least not well. I'm not used to digging through forum posts just to understand how damage is calculated for my normal attacks in an RPG. This is really something that I think needs to be addressed because it's a really big issue not to be able to understand what's actually going on in the battles. I'm sure I've said this before but atm I HAVE to completely redo my strategy because I built my character in a way that the game doesn't really seem to support. But there was no way for me to actually know that because the character sheet was telling me that my strategy would be viable. Even though it wasn't.
  8. I've almost beat Avadon. So I'm wondering which Spiderweb game should I play next? Geneforge? Avernum? I want challenge and good story and game balance. I think Avadon has great story and challenge, though the game balance was a bit weird in that calculating DPS of your own party was a little hard to comprehend due to lack of information on how tough enemies' defense actually is. I'm hoping the other games don't have this particular problem. There seems to be a lot of sequels, so which part of which series do you recommend? I honestly don't think I will play them ALL. (SO MANY!) So I would like a recommendation on the ones that you like best. Thanks! Btw I bought Avadon and Legend of Grimrock instead of Mass Effect 3 and I do not regret it one bit!
  9. My rouge + mages strategy was fine for the first 4 levels, but now I'm getting my but kicked...none of my party has an HP!! doh
  10. From what you guys are saying I would prefer the older version gameplay wise. As long as the loot was balanced in such a way that it all made sense. In other words, stronger potions, stronger scrolls, stronger armor etc. Since you can't be expected to carry 5 different leather jerkins just for the heck of it in that old school scenario. I always thought it was weird how the characters in Avadon weren't encumbered by their unequipped inventory. I kind of thought they should have been.

I understand completely, why when I was dating I had a horrible date with a blonde woman. Because of that one experience I crossed all blondes off of my list of potential mates... that doesn't even make sense, becuase I love Avadon and am having a great time with it. Re-work that analogy. But if I'm going to spend 60 hours in Avadon. I'm not so eager to spend another 60 making a new game in Avernum where much of the graphics are identical. Avernum is essentially a mod, which is fine. But that is the reason why I haven't bought it yet. Because I was satisfied by Avadon. And I think Redbeard is one of the most interesting characters in any RPG I've ever played. Well anyway to list one more gripe I have with Avadon and probably Avernum too, even though I haven't played it. Is the fact that the party only moves when you released the mouse click. I think it would be user friendlier if they party moved on mouse button down. Those are my main issues with Avadon and possibly Avernum as well, by extension.
  12. The only reason I haven't bought Avernum is because even though I'm sure it's a much different game, the graphics look very similiar to Avadon. The truth of the matter is, if Spiderweb made their games in polygons instead of sprites, it would be easier for them to add new graphics. But yeah I love Avadon but I still don't want to buy Avenum yet, and it's just becasue of the fact that the graphics look so similiar to Avadon. The other reason I don't want to buy Avernum, yet, is because, of the thread of made about Dexterity Shaman Attack Power Quite Low. Where after 40 hours of playing Avadon I realized that the character sheet gives misleading quotes on the attack damage on sometimes because the armors of the enemies is never quite explained. Which sort of makes developing strategy difficult. And I was concerned about how would I be able to make my own strategy in Avernum if the same damage forumlas that I still don't understand are going be used.
  13. Who is playing it? It's really fun! The battles are a lot more intense than what the previews made it seem like. Right now I am running 1: Unarmed Rouge -Human Male 2: Throwing Weapons Rouge - Lizard Male 3: Direct Damage Mage - Human Female 4: Indirect Damage/Utility Mage - Insectoid Male I think I may start another game with 3-4 mages! The magic system is so cool in this game.
  14. http://hisnamewasmaraudershields.tumblr.com/ some say he was the true hero of ME3
  15. I did not buy Mass Effect 3 because of the BS day one DLC. I watched some people play it on Youtube and the DLC has a very fleshed out and awesome Protheon character. Which is part of what makes it so ridiculous that it is considered "optional DLC" They used to call this "Shareware". But at least you got the incomplete version for free back in the day. Nowadays you have to pay $60 before you even qualify to pay for your complete game. Absolutely not. Mass Effect 3 going insane is the reason I bought Avadon =) So it's not all bad. Anyways, the first game was my favorite because of the structure of the gameplay and storyline. The last 2 games are more "crisis mode" from the very start. But I think that having periods of relative normalcy + adventure is good in an epic RPG. And the very beginning of the game when you acted sort of like a galactic constubul on the citedal was really cool in ME1. I've also seen the endings on Youtube. And I think that like someone said on here, that Mass Effect 2 didn't really need to exist. The 3rd should have been the 2nd. And then the REAL finale should have featured more of that "incomprehensible god machine" stuff that someone else mentioned on here. Not a situation where Shepard just makes a choice in a dream sequence. But an actual palpable ending where everyone you've met has an inpact on the final moments in the story. Bioware definately had the budget for a more fleshed out ending(s)
