  1. Agreed, the combat in G5 was beautiful. As for the graphics, lets face it you wouldn't be playing an indie game if you really cared about graphics.
  2. So is the next Avadon remake going to be the same style as Avadon : The Black Fortress?
  3. I thought the other two people who worked with him were in charge of that department lol. I'm currently trying to get Geneforge to work on my PC but it isn't cooperating. The mouse is lagging up a storm x_x
  4. The archer's skills are pretty good, its ability to go multiple times in a single round while hasted and such, while being able to shoot different targets, gives is a nice utility option in any party. However as stated, there just aren't any good bows later on in the game so the archer falls behind significantly in dps.
  5. I've played games where the enemies have no problem opening doors and continuing through. That just isn't the case here though.
  6. Personally Geneforge 5 was spiderweb's best game thus far, but that is just because of the play style. Avernum: EFTP, despite several things I don't like about it, there are also several things I do like. It's probably 3rd on my list of top spiderweb games, with the original Exile taking 2nd However I am in agreement with him that simply remaking the games a 2nd time probably isn't the best of ideas. No matter how much the gameplay and looks of a game change, someone can only want to do the same storylines over and over so many times before they get tired of it. As he stated, a simple port of those games to make them playable on the newer operating systems would be more than acceptable and I'd imagine not that difficult.
  7. Yup, same thing happens in Geneforge 2 and 3 as well. 4 and 5 work just fine however.
  8. I tried one on normal, not fond of how it has to be played to work lol. I'll pass on the idea, thanks though xD
  9. So I originally came to this series with geneforge 5, as such never really played 1-4 so I've decided to get them and try them out since I enjoyed the 5th one. After loading up geneforge 1 however I'm noticing an issue with my mouse. Things are really choppy and lagging. I'm assuming it is due to the fact that I'm running this on Windows 7 64-bit. Just wondering if there is a way to fix it. I've tried opening it in compatibility mode but no luck.
  10. My guys are only level 9 and I only use my mage for haste and it works just fine. Spellcasters in this game have to be dedicated to buffing every few rounds if you want to maintain them. Honestly though I can typically start an internal fight by buffing before hand and not have to worry about it again, and this is on Torment. Unless it is a boss then typically I'll renew buffs mid fight. If its a random encounter, goodluck trying to buff.
  11. If they have leveled up that question mark will be green and in turn bring them to the level up screen. That is what he is complaining about.
  12. Yeah, there are always ways to abuse the system. Reminds me of when skyrim first came out and you just put a pot over someone's head then robbed them blind lol.
  13. Or you can, you know, just use the secret passage in the back that leads right into the prisoner's cell and escape without even drawing your weapon. When you enter the area for the neph prisoner quest go to the right instead of inside the front gate. You will notice a secret passage over there that leads around the fort. A few rats in there and a guy to talk to. This leads around to the fort's back gate which is undefended, then you go to the right and you will see a switch on the wall. Hit it and it opens a hole in the wall and there you have your prisoners. Don't forget to grab the guy hiding in the corner on your way back out.
  14. The neckless quest is done in the room on the 2nd floor of the Nephil Fort. You'll see several ghouls, a couple archers and a mage in there as well. Be wary if you haven't been to the Fort yet though as it has several bosses inside it and can be a handful. I've made about 10 trips in and out of it already.
  15. He is saying that he casted the spell in range of the other PCs and in sight of them, but it is failing. I attributed that with like how spells can miss on higher level monsters. That was my thinking with the low Int on fighters thing.
  16. So you have to go to the Tower of Magi before this quest in order to get the dispel barrier thing to do it? Edit : I ask because I have this quest as well.
  17. Yeah I noticed that as well with things like the vases and such just sitting around. I figured it was just because I'm playing this in 1400x900 and I played Exile back in the day probably in like 640x480 or something.
  18. Um... remember? You're only ever tossing a few points per person in there anyways. That or just train the character's stat then go into skills. This game is pretty cut and dry when it comes to stats, if you're using a melee weapon for combat you focus on STR and some END, if you're using a bow - DEX and some END, and if you're a caster INT and some END.
  19. I disagree honestly, door closing was abused so much in the other spiderweb games. For example Geneforge 4 where you go into a town and into a spacious building with noone in it. Summon all your scorpion things and send them out then close the door, then rinse and repeat until the town is dead. It also made stealing insanely easy. Beyond those two key things the door closing was just one of those features that was cool there. I recall reading it was removed because the iPad version of the game was having a hard time with opening and closing them on accident. Since changes can be made to the various versions isn't it possible to do a patch for the Windows and Mac versions to add it back in?
  20. These little guys should really be controllable. During most indoors fights my mage and priest are pretty far out of the way of the frontline, so when I summon creatures with them they just stand around doing nothing until they despawn. If I move my mage/priest closer they take a turn or two to finally move up as well. So my question is, is it possible to make them controlled via the player? Aka like the minions in Geneforge series.
