  1. I don't know what the GUI looks like in Avadon. Although I own a copy in steam I've never actually played it, however I will say that the GUI in AEftP is a bit un-polished.

Little things abound that bug the hell out of me, for example, a hotkey that opens the inventory but the same hotkey doesn't close the inventory.

Being forced to either click the checkmark or move over to the ESC key just drives me batty.

Overall, I think the GUI could use an extreme makeover/refinement. From what I've seen in the game files it should be possible to do a simple graphics makeover by refining the graphics in the associated png files, but things like making panels open AND close with the same hotkey seems to not be changeable in any files that I immediately noticed unfortunately.

    3. What is your native screen resolution, if you know?

    4. Do you play Avernum at your monitor's native screen resolution? If no, does your monitor support running at exactly half of your native screen size?

    5. From the platform you are playing Avernum on: Mac, PC, iPad... Can you change the resolution on your platform or is the resolution hard-coded?

    1. 1600x900

    2. Yes, the graphics are so small at this resolution that I can barely make out what is on the ground. I'd have to guess that it would display better at something like 800x600 or maybe as high as 1024x768 but at the more HD resolutions it's terribly tough (even wearing mag glasses) trying to make out objects in the game. Not all, but a lot more that it should be. I really would like to see the characters with more details, as they are now they're little more than some pixels on the screen to me.

    3. 1600x900

    4. Being that my monitor is a laptop monitor, and my 2nd monitor is also at 1600x900 natively and both are the typical lcd displays, anything less than the native res and things become blurry, to the point that I won't use anything but the native resolution.

    5. Playing on a PC. Obviously I can drop the resolution of my monitors, but see 4 above. And no, my monitors do not support exactly half of their native resolution which would be like 800x450
  3. Bummer, I know I'm going to miss a huge amount of stuff as I get more and more tired of opening and closing my inventory.

I probably wouldn't care as much about it if it was the same hotkey to open and close the inventory, instead of having to click the checkmark or press the ESC key.

I use the Q key to open it and well... expected that the Q key would close it too.

    Oh well...

Thank you for the information about the U key, and my question, at least I won't feel like I'm going out of my mind trying to find a hotkey to highlight stuff on the ground.

  4. Hi,

Just bought this game, liking it so far with one exception...

I'm having a nearly impossible time to tell when there is something on the ground or on a table that my characters can pick up.

Is there a hot key in the game that I can press that will put up tool tips on my screen showing what items are on the ground or on tables so that I don't have to continually open my inventory every time that I move my character 5 paces one way or another.

    Thanks,
