If games, especially RPG's were to easy, then it'd be too boring. SW games, in my opinion are awesome because there's always more than one option.

I seem to remember being able to change the music for Exile 1 and 2 to whatever I wanted it to.

The Marathon series from Bungie has been released as open source, and there are editors and so on available for the series. Although Marathon isn't quite RPG, I thought I'd throw it in. It could be worth looking in to.

One thing I like about Sci-Fi is that it can be quite original. Sure there is usually a few common elements like spaceships and hyperspace, but in general good Sci-Fi's usually have a whole universe created from scratch. Even to the point where there's a distinct alien species with a distinct language that occaisonaly becomes somewhat a cult status, like Klingon or Goa'uld

I remember those games! well most of them any ways. It's quite nice that Marathon went open source and I think Odyssey is now freeware.

I came across Exile 1 and 2 on old MacFormats. Original graphics and background music to suit!
