  1. Are there any benefits to going past level 3 Sholai language? Also, it seems strange that there are only 3? instances where it's needed, given that there's so many places to level it up. Do some of the training sources have no effect if you are already level 1/2?
  2. Hopefully it gets referenced in the future, but if not my take is that it's straight from the Geneforge and just feeds more into the Drypeak madness.
  3. A question directed at those who've done Guardian/Agent playthroughs...is it possible at all to clear every zone as a solo PC on Torment, i.e. requiring a bit of combat?
  4. Freeplace is definitely the earliest. Everywhere else is later in the game and has even tougher enemies. Without spoiling too much...stealth won't get you that Freeplace canister.
  5. Oh, you mean that was Monarch's goal in G4? Guess my memory is a bit fuzzy.
  6. @Typical_Name Given that you're attempting to play solo + Torment there are many areas where stealth is preferrable over combat, especially considering that you've already pumped points into mechanics and leadership. I recently tried taking this to the max and completed a torment pacifist game with only Firebolt + Heal canisters, so I'd imagine sneaking around + allowing yourself to kill a few hostiles here and there would work out fine. Obviously such an approach requires lots of reloads - you have to rely on enemies pathing in the right direction / lucky stealth timing. Tacking onto the plot discussion the Trakovite endings are definitely unsatisfactory. But I suppose that's the reality of the situation -- damned if you Shape, damned if you don't. A plausible plotline would be to become absurdly strong through the use of the Geneforge and whatnot, go on a quest to eradicate all traces of Shaping, and let the knowledge die with you. Infinitely many ways that could go wrong though.
  7. Lore-wise Kyshakks seem to fit the bill on what you're asking about. Hybrid shaping also seems cool from a pure numbers perspective - perhaps if levels in Battle Shaping made creations tankier, Fire Shaping increases ranged damage, Magic Shaping lengthens status effects...something like that.
  8. Ah, that's unfortunate. I was thinking about how much I could possibly do on a single Firebolt canister run but this (likely?) isn't one of them I guess. Thanks for the tip! Edit: Well, I actually managed to do it by stacking absurd amounts of Magic and Energy resistance and topping it off with Danette's Cloak. 106 damage / 598 resisted.
  9. Currently trying a pacifist / no canister (well, firebolt + heal) / torment playthrough (yes I love pressing F4 all day, don't judge me). I assume it's possible to deal with Oroboros by using that contraption to the east, but I can't lure her over there. I only have access to the NE spore box, and the mines are still keeping me blocked off from accessing the other two spore boxes and (I assume) a lever that opens up the door between the two rooms. What am I missing?
  10. I think Geneforge 3 was the first Spiderweb game I played - I fondly recall my first time finishing the tutorial and going "holy sh*t" upon meeting Litalia. I enjoyed similar parts of G4 and G5, but it seems subsequent games have discarded this feature... Does it simply take too much time to script those? I'd honestly help write code for those if it was possible...cutscenes here and there did wonders for immersion.
  11. Used the Orb of Thralni to hop over the Skribbane drug checkpoint, and the 4th stone circle dialogue popped up.
  12. I was thinking about what happened from G3-G4-G5, but why not for all the games? Here's what I have, to the best of my knowledge. I would appreciate it if others add on. G1: - Factionless ending? - Kill both Trajkov and Goettsch? - Geneforge destroyed? (or maybe that's left to the Shaper Council) G2: I'm actually a bit confused on this one. So Easss dies, but is Drypeak purged, or do the secrets remain hidden? (because Ghaldring has to go to the Ashen Isles) G3: Yeah, still confused on this one too. Does Rahul die here, or later on? Pretty sure this is rebel victory though. G4: I thought the Unbound were finished at full power, and the vats remained undamaged, but there were just so many options. Kinda sad the PC in this game is kinda irrelevant/never mentioned again. G5: lol
  13. If I talk to the smugglers and tell them to go to Hawkstone before I get the quest from Eye Audun, I won't be able to finish the quest.
  14. Time to replay the series, just to hype myself up for the rewrite. I'm pretty sure he's gonna go through g1 and g2 first, and that it's mainly just going to be an interface/graphic update (to make it more similar to G5 gameplay-wise). I hope the spell/creation choices stay the same though - it reflects the evolving knowledge in war over time.
  15. Is there a plot summary out there for any game, just for massive spoilers? (Including the details and specific endings/scenarios, kind of like the GameFAQs guides for Geneforge/Avernum)
  16. Hey! I gave up on my own remix (I'm lazy and trying to enjoy my summer as much as possible), but I would be more than willing to help out!
  17. I couldn't bring myself to play Avernum 1 because of its graphics. I don't think Exile will fare much better. Forgive me for being uncultured :<
  18. I was watching a Let's Play of Avernum 2 (in the original trilogy), and I saw that there used to be multitarget spells that required you to select individual targets. Why hasn't this appeared in any of the Geneforge games, Second Trilogy Avernum, or Avadon? If a "number of target limit" imposed, this could make some pretty nice abilities. I think it's a great function that can serve as a go-between for single-target and 10-20ish size aoe and cones.
  19. Just two questions before I try doing this: Is there already a mod for A2:CS? Is there a guide for modding A2:CS or Spiderweb Games in general? I know how to go about modding, but I'd like to be aware of the possibilities and limitations of modding.
  20. It would be very nice if the GUI for a G1 remake was similar to that in G4 or G5, without the start/end combat symbol effect in Avernum remakes/Avadon. Or an option to enable/disable it.
  21. There's no consequence for extorting more money from them both.
  22. It's not TOO hard to kill them if you have a summon or turret help you tank damage. Also, you can always finish the main quest first to gain a level or two, then come back.
  23. Hm. When I played, it was possible to stay out of their range while you slowly sniped them down.
  24. I would like for NPCs that can join your party but aren't necessarily Hands.
  25. I've finished the game now. At first, I had my two companions bunny hop and leave my PC to stay behind...not good.
