  1. I'm also loathing the fact that entry/exit points on maps are essentially meaningless. In GF4 for example, I would tactically enter an infested town like Thornton from different directions to assault the fringes. Avadon is like Dragon Age, which is hardly a good thing. I guess I'm discouraged that an indie developer like Spiderweb would go through such efforts to mainstream their game. The Geneforge system used a far superior mechanic to restrict map navigation, with either gates or superior forces...and yet it encouraged exploration and choices. Now, we get parties that can't tactically initiate battles and maps that play like Dragon Age... I'm waiting for cutscenes in Avadon 2
  2. I think I was polite enough? I is a frustrating feature of the game. I'm a paying customer of multiple Spiderweb Games and I'm not trolling.
  3. I have to wholeheartedly agree. The unaccessible location nonsense is the worse feature of the game. I also had multiple quests and couldn't access Dhorla Woods and had to google to find this thread. Note that one of the quests is FROM THE RUNNER! I already went down the particular dialog branch before seeing the creature so there was no reason to suspect there was a new option to trigger the location unlock. There is a similar issue in the KVA. The conventional way to handle this is to simply let the player get his butt kicked so he/she knows they should come back later. I really hate this, because I hate using google to solve stupid stuff. This isn't a puzzle. Its simply a horrible game design feature! Sorry for the rant. I simply want my 45 minutes of pointless wandering around back.
  4. I poured through that stuff and there is some interesting info. GF5 seems to have tons of info. I'm trying Avadon now, then back to GF1. Thanks for all the help!
  5. I finished the game. I can't say I've completed a game more challenging than this. I think it was a combo of my newbiness to the geneforge series along with picking a rebel route. I'm not sure exactly. In the end I had to focus on Melee and Strength to have enough firepower to survive. In more difficult fights I had to resort to cover to heal, using my cryodrayks as meat shields. Anyway... its done. Great game. More insight into the stats system would have been nice though. Tables and such...
  6. Well I finally took her out. I amped up my Melee and put on some strength boosting equipment. I did lose my Drayk though. Now I have a Cyrak and a Drayk. So far I think I'm stronger as a result. One question... and I'm not looking for a spoiler but I want to make sure I didn't break the game. I defeated Alwan and Miranda in Polyphra, but they fled instead of dying. I didn't break the game did I? Its ok to clear that area? They both fled with 1HP so I'm assuming they were invincible.
  7. I'll watch for the animation, I've not noticed it. So with the +2 mind attack ring and two level ups I got level 7 and found greater daze. Unfortunately... the damn worms are all immune! Any other ideas? I saved before allocating all the points, so there is something.
  8. I've never witnessed Quick Action give me anything frankly. Only Speed gives me the extra attack. I'm going to try a few things including using pilons to summon things so I can get another level. I have 6 skill points in reserve, maybe I can pump up my metal attacks.
  9. Thanks for your help. I'm desperate now! Because of the Drakons Resistances I'm only getting around 60 damage per round. I'm using the Guardian broadsword I added acid damage to. Drayk does about 40 damage per round. Myself and the Drayk are hasted, blessed and Essence Shielded. I've also tried this a few times with 3 additional Fyora. They can't hit anything and don't last more than a few rounds. My warrior looks like this: Level 39 HP 452 Essence 465 str 12 int 13 End 10 Melee 10 Quick 12 Fire Creation 5 Mental Magic 3 (Daze 2) Resistances vary based on equipment, fire around 60 for this, but the worms do acid and it is hard to cover both at once. I've never actually tried Daze, but I'm pretty low. Might work on worms? I think the Quick Action investment is holding me back. I probably should have jacked up endurance? Drayk: Level 41 730 HP Str 30 Dex 20 Int 26 End 30 I'm wondering if I should use an editor to shift points from Quick Action (which appears to be completely useless) to Endurance??? Is that even possible?
  10. OK.... you can't be serious! I think I may have hit end game for me . I can't seem to progress at all. I can get Vossizon down to 45% health and then I'm dead. My completely maxed out (strength and endurance) drayk can't take on all the spawned worms to buy me time to wear Vossizon down. I can't recruit that other drakon either, he doesn't give me the option. I don't have too many other options. I can't kill the eyeball with its army of protectors. I can't take on Miranda and Alwan and that 3rd Shaper. All other paths are cleared out. Pretty frustrating game now. Do warriors just peter out?
  11. Killed Shaftoe and Eliza, the crazed Rotghroth and cleaned Throrton. Speed. Speed and more Speed. I should have taken the cue earlier given how many enemies cast it at the start of a battle!
  12. Yup I figured it out a few minutes after posting. In Burwood now. I still can't take out the things listed below though. I'm assuming I should come back later? My Warrior now has a nice pet Drayk that I'm leveling. He has survived the last 5 levels and he is a powerhouse. - two other barrier guardians though (Eliza or Shaftoe). I almost had Shaftoe but he cast some horrific spell that nuked me after he was down to 30% or so. I haven't tried Eliza (haven't found her) - the rotghroth in the cave. - Thorton (other than the fringes, before the creatures call reinforcements)... - some ghosts in a cave that keep "aborbing their twin"...
  13. I've got them with me and they don't do anything. If I select the technician, and then a trap my main character walks up to it? Aren't they supposed to help with energy fields too??? Thanks for any help.
  14. Thanks for that. I'm a canister junkie for the most part, staying somewhat neutral but sticking with the rebellion. I'm not that strong, and usually lose at least one companion in a major battle, to the point that I'm pretty much doing disposable creations. I'll keep pumping up int and fire then?
  15. Just curious about my build. I'm currently level 17 and I've been splitting the brunt of my skill between Strength, Endurance and Intelligence. My Fire Creation is at 4 (mostly training) and I've been using primarily an amped up Cryora and Fyora. My question is, at around 75% through chapter 2, should I concentrate Strength and Endurance or continue down the "fun" path of adding more int and creation potency? The game is pretty challenging and I want to make sure I don't gimp this guy. I'm seeing some nice looking armor in town and I don't have enough strength currently.... Thanks for any input. Great game!
