  1. Can't get any of the cells open. They don't trigger to open and there are no switches. Is this a "come back later" thing?
  2. Yup Avadon has rain. It took me by surprise too since I was 80% done with the game before I ran into it (or noticed it).
  3. RPG's with rain... here is a list with some variety Baldurs Gate I & II Nehrim - At Fates Edge Eschalon Book II Avadon The Witcher
  4. In all honesty I am coming from the Geneforge camp which is very colorful, but I have played a good chunk of the Avernum 4 demo and it has a brighter palette than Avadon. Having finished Avadon, I certainly appreciate the animation improvements and the general level of detail, but Avadon feels like one big "cloudy day" due to the muted palette. There were a few notable exceptions though. Zhethron's Aerie (richer reds) and Castle Vebeaux (brighter areas and blues) were a nice departure from the rest. Again this is really trivial but I've been thinking about it so hey...
  5. Coming off of Avadon to Avernum IV I was struck by how much brighter the palette is. I missed that, and find myself preferring less dun colors, shades of browns and dull greens. There is just no vibrancy in Avadon. Yes I realize this thread is trivial so just throwing it out there.
  6. Battle Magic it is! I need it to unlock Searer anyway. Thanks guys.
  7. About to level up again. With War Blessing my magic to hit seems pretty low (50%) and I'm looking to boost it. Do I go with increasing Dexterity or Battle Magic? Thanks!
  8. I think there are 3 quests like that in the game. My favorite (no spoiler) was searching this room and a few hallways for a good 45 minutes. Then you walk outside and get a "you didn't find anything" message which triggers progression. Yeah thanks ha ha!
  9. I wish Jeff would make lamps and candles useful like the Eschalon series. Near total darkness adds a great touch.
  10. I'm pretty sure you need to have a confrontation in the throne room for her to appear - its trigger related. I seem to recall having your dilemma as well. Others may no better however.
  11. Yup main floor. Bah I'm a dummy. But everything looks the same so there is my defense
  12. I'm a bit confused (again). Twice now I've been told something was being unlocked in the quartermasters stores as a reward. I can't find any storage? Hot off the Titan quest, Miranda said it again. I'm sure it is "just me"! Thoughts?
  13. I've got all these historical scrolls to sell and she vanished? She should be in the library near Redbeard correct? Last mission was KVA->Titans...
  14. Spoiler obviously... but I found two secret switches. My question is about the one in the hallway just west of the Drake's room. It made the usual grinding stone noise but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it did?
  15. Anyone else promise Jenell help and leniency and then proceed to murder everyone in front of her face? Anyone know what happened to Vid at the end? I'm trying to find him for some unfinished business. I want to show that flakey hoebag what happens when you cross a Hand and fail to honor your vow to the Pact and the Keeper.

Its tough to reconcile these two types of gamer players, probably impossible which is why these concessions must be made. Not all gamers are that stupid and are shopping for pure gaming content. Many of us play and see all of it... Dragon Age, the Witcher, Mass Effect etc. Bioware concentrates on flashy graphics and sex with dwarves while many of us really want Baldurs Gate 3. Jeff is offering real game content without the unnatural sex with dwarves. Screw the graphics. Now that Steam has arrived though... Jeff is likely going to feel some unnatural pressures.
  17. I bought the Eschalons for $3 a pop during the summer sale. You'll have to generate some serious volume to make any money at that rate.
  18. I'd do more Steam gaming if offline mode wasn't so tragically unreliable.
  19. Yeah... the Warrior can be very tough to play. Avadon feels like a walk in the park compared to the constant pummelling I took in GF4 scraping my way towards the finish.
  20. Those GF4 sales numbers... I'm not so sure about these assumptions. Avadon came with a revised game engine and system, a significant investment. Avadon 2 is likely going to be all game content, and take less than a year to produce. I also think his library generates more sales than what was estimated, and 2nd and 3rd year sales post release are probably still pretty strong. If he releases 1 per year he sees 2nd and 3rd year sales overlapping. Spiderweb and Basilisk should be thanking each other for cross sales.
  21. I'm good with that. Most "in engine" cutscenes in rpg's drop you smack in front of your opponent leaving zero tactical options.
  22. This is trivial... regarding the winch in the Dhorla Stead caves: First operate winch to raise gate, leave cave. Exit Dhorla Stead map area but select same map (basically don't travel anywhere). Go to second cave to walk through the open portal to find the gate is no longer raised. I had to walk back and operate winch again which isn't a big deal, but I guess the state of the gate is not persistent in some situations.
  23. Those had Area of Effect??? Never even noticed. I had about 45 of those in my quick slots at end game!
