  1. What's up with the silver circlet quest? I replay the game on singleton now, not having any difficulties the first time. But now I just can't open the chest with the circlet although I already have talked to Asp in Cotra who told me the word to unharm the magical trap. But it just doesn't open. (I have also been to sulfrass and cleared all arena fights including the champions.) Restarting the game did not help ether. I know that I do not need the circlet to pass sulfras but I just want to finish all quests. Any ideas?
  2. Thanks. Yes, so there is one patch for each herb, which is great. Unfortuneatly I play singleton and did not raise my arcane lore level up to 10 which I need to explore the mandrake field.
  3. Hey guys, did I miss any mandrake patch? The only patches I know of are... Healing Herb: N (at monestry) Spiritual Herb: SE of Mertis Energetic Herb: SE (south of honeycomb) I assume Jeff did not place a field of mandrake root because he dislikes the idea of brewing tons of wisdomcristals. But maybe I just missed one out. Thanks for help.
  4. *sigh* "drinking does not solve problems" that's right - but there might be some exceptions...
  5. I am stuck in the gauntlet as well. Same as MrYuk (have all passwordparts, killed Grah-Hoth, cleared the gauntlet...) I wonder about two things... - why can't I turn the two wheels ("complicated mechanism") - one in the big room with the pillars in the north and the other wheel west of that room? - there is another wheel and hidden switch (w of green/grassy room) which I cannot reach because of the gaps. The orb does not work inside and I do nocht know another way to get there. I have examined the whole gauntlet many times (also with the "u"-key). Pls help. Thanks.
  6. Originally Posted By: Lilith Under no circumstances do you want your soul-jar killers to be taking attacks from him: the soul jars themselves do enough damage as it is. Try to have your Redbeard-attackers stay to the north of him I have just beaten Redbeard on tornment which took me about 70-80 min. By accident he got into the southern room with two of the soul-jars. "Shockhorror" I thought in the beginning but it turned out to be good! (I have completely forgotten about the rod of attraction - so I guess otherwise I would have tried to pull Redbeard back in mainhall.) So this is how I wrestled him down: Shima on his own in the upper room, using battle frenzy potions and wand of calling to distract souljars. The rest of the party was in the other souljar-room to the southeast. Basically I used Nathalie and my mainchar (another shadowwalker) to care for the souljars. Sevellin tried to engage Redbeard and Jenell was supposed to (group)heal and cure hostile effects, which she did 5-6 times (terrifying and charming effects). Most of the time, there were two soul-jars active. In the end, when Redbeard seemed low on health I ignored them and went on Readbeard with all partymembers in that room. I guess to my surprise the key was having 4 partymembers in one room with redbeard and the soul-jars. So I could concentrate my power on the souljars and after having them down on redbeard. Besides thats why many groupeffects like buffs, cures or healings effected all 4 partymembers which was very helpful. So whatever you choose: Mainroom or gathering your party in the souljar-room - you will have different kind of advantages and can beat Redbeard.
  7. For Ryozo try search-function. It's already dealt here. As far as I remember: Papers are in his chamber in the guest area far in the west. But that might be the following quest. You propably have to get the papers first from the second library where you get after you went through the area underneth of Zethrons lair.
  8. Perfect. Thx. These two special training items were the ones I missed. The amount of gold is now pretty much the same than on "normal" so I agree that you probably do not get more gold on torment. And the Calanthaquest has now vanished. Thanks!
  9. Hey! On my second walkthrough I am about to start the endgame, climbing the stairs in Castle Vebeaux. I am a bit confused `cause I think I may have missed some good preparation which I did the first time. What kind of prearrangement should I do before climbing those stairs of my fate? ... solving all other quests (e.g. "A dragon's tooth" or killing Beloch the Scourge) ... buy the four runed ores (from Arilda (?), in Dhorla Woods) ... get Hunter's Eye & Blade (from Liese, Beast's Wood), Unni's Boon (Shaman, Dhorl Stead) and other special items (look up "special items" in the journal) ... maybe retrain skills (at trainer Leala at the Berazza Woods) Maybe you want to open the sealed runedoors with the runed Athame. I just remember such door(s) in Avadon Dungeon (1), Moritz Kris Tower (1), Oghrym Tor (1), Beraza Pits (1). Which one did I not mention? Any other ideas to prepare best? Wasn't there another possibility of increasing any stats by training or more special items than listed above? I wonder why I have so much money left, remembering that I was short on money the first time. Maybe it's just because now I am playing on "torment" which grants more money because of more killed foes? Well, if you have more ideas of preparing best for the endgame I would appreciate any other hint. (btw: two quests do not vanish from questlog even though they are done: "Drake Skins" and "Calanthas Competition" - any idea?)
  10. I bought the avadon hintbook in the spiderweb store for 10 $ and I am not sure what to think about it. Avadon was my first rpg from spiderweb and I really love it. But starting playing Avadon I went tingly all over cause I thought I got stuck. Today I know I have to return to some locations later in the game when I have more experience or special items (e.g. the knife which opens the magical sealed doors) or that Jeff seems to like creating passages you can't reach. Without knowing that I tried hours of frustrating actions or running around without being sure whether I could succeed or not - so I bought the hintbook which I normaly never do `cause I like exploring and solving tricky quests. Anyway, I did buy it and it helped me understanding the "philosophy" of the game and allocated the hints I needed. There are three main parts in the book: Walktrough - Area (or quest-)descrition - Maps Imho I think all passages have blemishes or even bugs. What do you think? The three major blemishes are... 1. walkthrough: searchfunction does not work properly! The whole workthrough part is not properly formated as text. Words like "dragon" or "trainer" from the walkthroughpart will not be displayed using the searchfuntion - which is extremly annoying. 2. Area (quest-)description: I miss more quest details. in the "area description" more information (e.g. where I got the quest or about the reward) would be helpful. I could not get the reward of two quests, cause I could not remember where to get the reward. (one of the wayfarers rewards and huntsman gable, which I found very late in the game). 3. Maps: I miss a caption. The maps do not display the characternames but just the numbers mentioned in the walkthrough, which makes ist much harder e.g. to briefly lock for certain characters or places. 1+3 are imho mayor flaws for a 10$-official-hintbook. 2 propably is a matter of taste. Some like more detailed quest information, some just prefer hints without a detailed how-to-desciption. IF you have got the hintbook I would be interested in your opinion: Have you got the same "bugs" or is there an updated version available? Are all spiderwebs hintbooks like that or is the avadon just in a beta-version-state? And don't get me wrong: I love Avadon and I think Jeff does a great job ;-)
  11. Buying the hintbook for 10$ from the spiderweb store could be an idea. I got it and I admit that without the hintbook I missed quite a few things in the game.
  12. I was very annoyed and disappointed by the last fight as well. For my second run I am playing on torment and soon I will be facing that battle again. The closer it comes the more my fun of playing the game vanishes, which should not be in a good RPG (apart from that fight, I love Avadon!). Most annoying I found... ... the jars immunity ... the duration of the boring/hard fight ... no possibility of buying limitless potions (e.g. healing and battle frenzy) in store (which would make a big difference) ... that none of the nicodemus special-items helped significantly - which I truly hoped could be the clue in that fight. (Still think that would be a neat idea!) ... and everything BetrayalAtKrondor is listing - totaly agreeing with him! Hopefully this will be different in Avadon2...
  13. Hi Xander77, if i do remember right, Jenell opened 4 hidden passages until I got to Theresia. Maybe try all dead ends in that particular area and don`t stay to far from the ends otherwise she will not find the hidden entrance. I don`t think there is a bug, just try looking closer. When Zephyrine attacks your party split them as far as you can in that room. It is not even worth trying to damage her. Just survive several rounds. Then she stopps attacking your party. On "torment" it was a bit tricky to survive, but on normal it should not be a problem if you split your party, just watch out, that she attacks a single member each round. Greetings.
