  1. I try to use only armors providing protection with no handicap -5% hit chances. It's hard to resist when you can wear a 22% armor instead of a 12% one, but considering it takes away 10% hit chances I prefer not to loose a hit during a hard fight. I believe I'm doing right.
  2. For instance, the Lemonwood bow costs more than the Cavewood Longbow but hits less points and doesn't have the +5% hit chance. It weights less, ok, but I fear this difference is in the useless advantage (!) to buy an item made with rare material. The same happens with fine steel gauntlets which protect you less than others and cost (much) more.
  3. Have I to worry about that? Eventually, there's a short time risk of death or something? I've wandered around the Tower of Magi to find a cure with no results. Who's the one to ask for help there?
  4. Indeed I was That skull gives a 4% less time to recharge abilities in Avadon, so I asked if there's one here too, otherwise there are a lot more of skulls in Avernum and it's really slowing me down clicking on each and every one to find the (non talking) one. Is it positive then, I mean there isn't a magical skull here, right?
  5. I am supposed to go shopping for Christmas but no, here I am playing the dammed addicting new Spiderweb Software game, there will be some people with no gifts this year boys!
  6. Boats are a bit boring when they come to make curves, you point a space on the water and they stuck against a cliff. Nothing serious obviously, but this Avernum 6 minor bug was not fixed in Escape the Pit.
  7. There's this imprisoned Demon in Tower of Magi, ground floor, and after him it takes two Dispelling Barriers crystals to reach what it seems a dead end. Is this corridor waiting for further quests to open and lead somewhere else or is this dead end one of Jeff's usual jokes? All right, found the explanation.
  8. My party is the same as previous Avernum games: sword warrior, pole weapons warrior forms the first line, then archer with nimble fingers and Priest spells, mage with Lore, some Priest spells and good archer. I haven't changed party order yet (level 15). I really find particularly useful to have a Mage that is also a good archer: she is of little use when she is down of spell energy, but with the bow she can shoot that precious arrow which kills an injured foe. Also I like the Archer that opens doors and cure the others, being in second line this last action is easier to perform. By the way I can't say I appreciate the warriors that much, they are a bit boring to play because of the limited actions versatility. I customize my party from the beginning, when you understand what you want from each one of them and then shape your NPC it works better than taking the presets for granted.
  9. I am a bit tired to clic on every skull on the road :-) simply would love to know if are there magical skulls as in Avadon or not... please tell me!
  10. I like to have an Archer with Nimble fingers and Priest spells, Blademaster, Pole weapons master and the Mage. It worked very well in Avernum 6 and it works now.
  11. Wiped out every zombie and spirit in the cave close to Mertis but I can't find any Pearl Brooch that is written to be on someone's body in Spirit's room. That is said in a message when you touch the body, but it's not in the Inventory nor on the ground. Where is it?
  12. It's all right, thanks, it's only a new way to find to do same things. I wonder why this feature has changed. Is it maybe because this way game programers can now store valuable objects in same town boxes, with the assurance you can't take them before being strong enough to kill someone really strong and fight a whole riot against you in town? By the way, can we also fight the good ones as it was in old Avernum? I missed this feature in Avadon.
  13. Yeah all right bunch of honest people, but how to close doors please?
  14. Hi, I downloaded the Demo today, saved a couple of times then tried to quit, but the game wouldn't close. I had to force quit, and it worked, but I noticed the Mac did NOT show the applicatio as it didn't respond (usual comment in red). So I don't understand the problem, anybody else here had the same experience and can help? Mac with Lion 7.2. Thanks!
  15. As someone here taught me you better figure out the real proportions of characters in game; they are close to be insignificant in context the opposite way as you feel them big because you are emotionally involved (at least for the first playthrough this is for sure). Then consider that your hard choices are not that relevant because the game is structured to take you to its end even when you miss quests, you refuse them or you pick the "wrong" decisions, in facts there are no wrong decisions but convenient or unconvenient ones. Third point is that you are fooled by more than a character and you know but a portion of the truth about what's going on in Avadon. I believe it would be better for you to know little and go on with the game, you would maybe enjoy it more in the end
  16. Figure out a SW with dual wielding... wouldn't it be spectacular? His armor max percentage might be reduced to balance the skill?
  17. Yes, for what I remember in Avernum 6 there is a penalty for Dual Wield, also there is a Dual Wielding training skill to slowly improve, in this way Jeff already balanced the over power. Maybe something similar could be used in the future, I can see no peculiar in game contraindications...
  18. Yes I know, it's a bit late but I suddenly realized this is what I miss most of Avernum features. What do you think? Wouldn't it be nice to have Dual Wield in Avadon II?
  19. Yeah, before final battles you could get back to Beast's Woods i.e. and get a good training. That is too expensive earlier in the game but now you have the money.
  20. Confirmed, it works with Lion 10.7.1 and the game seems faster to me.
  21. Glad to hear that news about Universal Binaries programming and yes, EE, what worried me is uncompatibility because Apple dismissed Rosetta; with Lion you need to install new versions of many applications, not a minor difficulty for me for I run a five years old OSX Tiger.
  22. Good. I got a new Mac but haven't turned it on yet, hope you are right Randomizer
  23. Thank you :-) I'm not sure I understood what are the positive and the negative status but it is enough for me to know that the additional powers from curses/magical items are switchable between sorceress and shaman without loosing any benefit.
  24. The one in Dhorla Woods: you will return to her place for a quest, only after the quest is completed you have access to some magical stones she sells. Then you can explore her quarters, she will not be pleased but at that point you already have everything she could give. I know, this is not polite...
