There are so many items to carry for major and minor quests along the way that I needed to organize distribution and picking mode. To speed up the picking I choose to let Marion, default name for Pole warrior, be the one who picks up all of Ale, Wine, Meat, Mushroom, Hammers, Iron bars, Magical notes, Bags of meal, Tongs, Pincers and so on. Mycroft the Healer picks always up Healing, Energetic, Spiritual herbs, Mandrake roots, Graymolds, generally all that is related to his traits. Scrolls and Wands are mainly taken by Cordelia the Mage, potions are split, weapons are mainly carried by Aldous the Blade. A couple of character that pick up always the same kind of items really speed up the party when i.e. inside a cave when you have to pick and fight continously. I know, in the beginning it's quicker to let Aldous pick up everything, but his slots end soon.

I saw there are caves here and there that one can't enter, which simply give you something when you happen to be there for the first time. Is this the case? I experimented with Editor's cave lore levels, setting on 12 (+2 for two members of the party) and I couldn't enter either. There is an important quest in Scree Pits, that's why I ask how to enter there, there are signs and everything here suggest these two caves, or one of them, are important. -

I've been there but couldn't get the right thing for Rita. I know, it's weird, I passed the underground four portals and I'm close to be sure I've found spells and other stuff, but not what was requested. Say this because I returned to the crypt now for the fourth time. How to get there? And why I can only enter the Crypt but not the two caves aside? Is that part of the game or a bug? -
I was too optimistic about going on. Found no Strange Cave south of Giant Castle. Maybe north there's a strange cave meaning it has something to do with strange cloaks (vanhatai) but can't dispel barrier. I also passed Sulfras, entered the "exit" but I have only half password. Have the five brooch but lacks something I can't remember. For each main quest, big demon boss included, there's something missing I can't find: really, I'm stucked.

Yes, she's in Cotra, thanks. However message says: "She lives somewhere in the area of Silvar". I searched all the huts nearby Silvar and the town. Message is definetely misleading @Decho Happy to hear about that

My playthrough is completely stucked because the party can't get higher dispel barrier levels. I read here that this ca be improved in Koth liar, but what Koth looks for in exchange of his ward ritual is behind a barrier which the party can't take down. I surely miss something about dispel barriers, otherwise Catch 22 would come to my mind...

Maybe there's a bug with Chevyn's ring, I found it in a barrel protected by a small gate (if I well remember) and gave it back to him but the Quest is still current. Sorry, it is indeed Tower of Sulfras and to my disdain I add I can't find Elizabeth in Silvar.

I left the Honeycomb for the late part of the game, waiting the party to be really effective, because of how hard was Avernum 6 one for me. However, there seem no need to confront the two Honeycomb 'cause they are different; Avernum 6 one (maybe older games too, can't remember) was entirely underground, while this Honeycomb is simply the name of a surface area which includes drake's liar. With regard to claustrophobia, that was due to different reasons: the vastity of the Honeycomb, the consequent fear to get lost, the huge amount of time to complete the relate Quests. For sure levels count a lot, as you state, my first playthrough is on Normal.

The original Avernum Honeycomb I agree it was a nightmare in terms of fight, more than this, different levels contributed to a scary sense of claustrophobia. Maybe confronting the drake adds some thrilling to the place, but I avoid him, just in case of a future attack to Avernum from the Empire. He's not that bad for a drake and as in Avadom the strongest "good foes" survive the best is for the future of the Land.

By the way, it is possible to open the gate in Sulfras Liar without giving to him the two artifacts. Simply defeat him and his 14 monsters and the gate will open, as well as treasure room. Well, not that simple after all :-)

I've been to Kohth then I reminded I already have been there, also in the southern fort and was forbidden to get its item to exchange with the ward spell by another awfull magical barrier I still don't have enough Dispel barriers level to open. Met Soldberg's shade which gave us the Black iron key and suggest to reach the warrens to find the Orb, well it's a mess, isn't it? I'm at the point og the game where each item depends from another one and I can't get anymore to go on. Have four of the five brooch Erika asked for, i.e., but I can't find tat Bernhard in Dharmon who is told to have the fifth. I probably should have written a time scheme for actions to perform before, I know now, what I am i supposed to do at first?

Ok, thanks, got the Royal Seal. At the moment the party is stucked in Black Spire, defeated the demons they reached the garden with two sisters statues, they talk about drinking thrice the water of the magical fountain but I can't see how to reach it. I've found the external secret passage but have not enough Dispel barriers levels to open it.

Ok. I have some other questions: 1) It's written somewhere that the Wand of Carrunos is an augmentig strenght device conceived to strenghten prey during the hunt. I tried to use it on fellows of the party but, quite obviusly, it is not possible. According to logic if I use the Carrunos Wand on a foe the effect will be augmentation of his strenght... rather unpleasant thing to do. So what is it exactly that it does? 2) In Sulfras liar the drake asks for two artefacts to grant passage. I have one, but even if I had two I would try to avoid give anything to this crook. I noticed there is a dialogue option for the fight, but when I kill it I fear the gate wouldn't open anymore. So would it work to bring him the artefacts, kill him after the gate opens and get back the two things? 3) This one is annoying: I'm pretty sure I got the Royal Seal somewhere, but the Quest is still there and there's no object in Special Items... maybe I missed to click on "Take it", can't remember where it was, please tell me.

If I may ask, why Smite has such a good reputation to be mentioned in game dialogues? Molten Halberd is valued four times less in gold, but if I'm right with comparing statistics the difference between them is questionable in terms of quality, both of them can be useful in different situations: MA has +2 Gymnastic, 125-470, 120-350 to foe near target (20%) where Smite has +15% to Cold resistance, +1 action point, +5% to critical hit chance, 119-476. +2 Gymnastic bonus level to me +1 AP and maybe Cold resistance too. The damage to foe near target is quite effective in group hard fights. -
Thanks a lot, I took good notice of most of the advises, a couple of them really brightned my party's day. Went on making a sort of absorbing mess in which I feel at home, so the party is still wandering around like mad killing close to anything breathing or not. A question: which is the one that lets you buy levels in Dispel barriers? It's frustrating to kill everyone in a cave and find a last barrier you are not able to dispel. The party also met the three surface conspirators in the tower, cursed Erika, the revenging drake, said "yes" to all of their proposals, then stop because a single question came to their minds: why do we want so desperately to go back upstairs? I mean, they are sort of idols for a subterranean world, people love them, have a dangerous but succesful life full of gold, power, magic and, not to be forgotten, ale. If there really are three ways to end the game and the party accomplish missions to decide which one fits them, maybe their present question doesn't come too early. Sadly, I don't have an answer for them, yet. What about you? ps: Soul of Wit, you guessed right.

I have similar difficulties, Vent. I really would like to be given some directions from you people, couldn't imagine the game was so huge coming from Avadon and also I inbred tend to explore a lot, so I am a bit lost at the moment in terms of planning how to proceed * Party is now level 20 (Blademaster and Archer/Healer) and 21 (Pole warrior and Mage). Got medals number 1, 2 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 18, 21, 22, 25 (reforged Demonslayer!), 28. Objects: Crown Token, Blessed Athame, Crystal (7), Metal Triangle (6), Aranea Queen Fangs, Serpent Ring, Graymold Salbe Recipe, Ivory Brooch, Malachite Brooch, Pearl Brooch, Bronze Key, Onyx Key (2), Iron Key, Crystal Key. Current Quests (this is the REAL mess): Banish Adze-Hakaai Slay Sss-Thss Erika's Tower Mushroom Meal (got them, have to deliver) The Wisdom of Khoth Sugar (got it, have to deliver it) Aranea Fangs (got them, have to deliver) The Scimitar Scout the Sliths Herbs for Ether (got them, have to deliver) Barghas's Library The serpent Ring (got it, have to deliver) Chevny's ring (I found a surface noble brooch or something in good Spiders lair but I don't think it's the real deal) Works of Magery (got two, have to deliver) Intentions of Kyass Anti-Poison Brew (got the Aranea Fangs, have to deliver) The Graymold Patch (got the Graymold, have to deliver) Iron Bars (got a lot of them, have to deliver) Message-Sahynee Tongs &Pincers (got the Pincers can't identify the Tongs, or the reverse situation!) I estimate the party is at about 60% of the game, in terms of Quests, but I speculate not more than 40% in terms of played time, mainly because of all the Quest object/messages and so on I still have to deliver… * hope "inbred" doesn't sound pretentious, I found the word on the Dictionary, it seemed fitting but I can't be sure, it's not my language. I came minutes ago at that point of the game. It has been a natural decision, no much to think about. I would never kill Slith-things-inside-the-eggs the way I wouldn't have killed nazi's children, I mean they are totally innocent and there's always hope about a Slith Martin Luther King in that new generation of lizards
