  1. No unfortunately i dont, the game didnt autosave.
  2. I would only recommend kept creations in geneforge 3, 4 and 5 as they have a more simplified way of making it work with low levels creations. Geneforge 1 and 2 are usually not recommended with this as the high level creations are better in almost every way with regard to maximizing. Geneforge 3 was i think the best one to try it as vlish are probably too powerful if you start them early.
  3. I am at my wits end and yes i told him. I just want to get through this part of the game to move on. Is there a cheat to unlock the woods? This is getting frustrating. Edit-i just tried faiga and she wont. I give up.
  4. ive tried it numerous times with different dialogue, nothing comes up about the beast. when you say salom in dhorl stead, do you mean he has to be off of the entire map? edit: if i uninstall will my saves stay?
  5. I dont get any of those options, i only hear them say hunter salom wont let me in. I might have said something the 1st time i shouldnt have said. is there any way to edit the game and force the dialogue, i dont want to restart as there are no saves. edit- where is moritz-kri's lord exactly?
  6. I took a close look at the battle disciplines and i already have them all pretty down (at least in my head). Melee, poles, bows, and thrown are easy enough to figure out. But then it occured to me-You are going to have 3 things to put points into (well 2, but 3 every 2 levels). Skills are one, attributes are another and perks are the 3rd every second level. So now heres where i worry, what about the battle disciplines? They look to be like avadon's which makes me worry as if that is true then there will be 4 things to put points into. Are the battle disciplines like avernum 4-6 where you get them with enough points in melee, etc. like i am hoping or is this going to be like avadon where we will be getting points to put into battle disciplines. I hope that is not the case but i am just wondering.
  7. I usually find that the only character type that truly never made sense to me in the avernum later series and possibly this, was the ranged/melee type. Your better off sticking with one instead of munchkinizing. However mixing magic is a good choice if you know what your doing. Im just hoping that this time around you actually benefit from the rogue type character (high dex plus melee) instead of the strength juggernaut. The previous games make it almost no point to making a finesse character as there was no backstab or finesse ability you get.
  8. Hmm..wait what about war curse? Isnt weakness curse the one where you deal more physical damage and vulnerable curse is where you deal more magic damage, but war curse just lowers the enemies chance to hit and damage? If anyone can confirm id like to know, thanks.
  9. As curses are concerned, weakness curse and vulnerability curse sound like the same thing. Is there a difference? I couldnt find them in the manual.
  10. Im going to use the clawbug as they have been actually given poisonous attacks this time around.
  11. Thanks trenton. By the way, those are some funny chuck norris facts you got

Can you tell we've gone through this before? —Alorael, who doesn't especially want an MMORPG anyway. They tend to emphasize the worst of grinding and the worst side of people. The only way a spidweb mmorpg would work is if Jeff donned the beard (Redbeard) and took over as the keeper of the game. No one would mess with anyone then and the game would go smoothly. But seriously, jeff is too talented in coming up with unforgetable stories and characters to go in that angle. I for one think that if jeff made a fallout type fantasy/appocalyptic game, it would not only be awesome, it would be better than any of the fallouts we've got nowadays.
  13. Well are there any good low level creations that would work and not just act as disposable creations?
  14. Spiderweb can sell from other outlets such as steam, thats a good outlet and will enable jeff to gain new fans. However, i will always buy pretty much anything he releases from the official site. Thats just me.
  15. I want to give this game another try seeing as i now have just purchased the entire series. This time i want to actually use a creation from start to finish. Ive been doing some researching of which to use, and the unstable thadh seems like a decent choice. I believe to unlock him i need 3 in thadh summons. My question is will i be able to unlock him at a reasonable point and if so what class will be worth using the one thadh. I was thinking maybe warrior since i will only have 1 or maybe 2 creations, but might consider shocktrooper. Does anyone have any advice. I really want to use a lowbie creation that can manage so it doesnt have to be a U. Thadh, just not something that takes a long while to get. Thanks.
  16. I happen to think what skwish said was right on the ball. You dont usually see game roleplaying games done right like that. I found that ones that did it wrong were oblivion and morrowind. Made no sense and was tedious. I have to run around an island to increase athletics? I think that jeff could do that system really well and it would be fun as staying with a weapon type will be more crucial. I never understood ultimate munchkin characters that can essentially handle every situation, ranged/melee/spells/healing all at once. Sticking to a set class is important because it lets you know what your set strengths and weaknesses are. Real characters that are "somewhat" realistic are not perfect.
  17. -Geneforge 1 is a great game and is probably the most unique game in that series as the others use a different leveling system (The one from exile is only on G1). -Avadon is a great game too and you may find it easier to get into as the game is much more forgiving in the beginning. However the game does get harder and definitely has a good storyline. I would recommend Avadon if you are an old school bioware fan and geneforge if you like playing with one character. Both games are good and can be replayed again with a different setup as there are different ways to complete the game and classes to choose from.

According to Jeff, the Geneforge series has consistently sold quite a bit worse than the Avernum series, so "worked" is something of a relative term. He's going to keep remaking Avernum games for as long as they keep making him money, which they are. Steven didnt do well with kivi, everyone scoffed when he made even mention of dins (as it was too similar-he was laughed at). How many kids does Steven have? 3. What does that have to do with anything?
  19. I understand your viewpoint about jeff having his priorities set but lets look at the facts. While there are set differences between games, avernum series seem too much like the same game just as geneforge seems like the same path you choose. To explain myself look at this- In avernum 1-3 and 4-6 you are given a chance to create a party. You said player start from avernum 1 just so you are going in chronological order. You make a swordsman who uses swords, a polearm user, a priest that also does bows and a mage that specializes in mage spells and a bit in priest. Thats your party in said game. Now you beat avernum 1 and are going to try avernum 2. You will basically be playing the same game aside from minor things like races which affect gameplay very slightly. The same goes for avernum 3. Instead of exile where you at least had blunt weapons as a 3rd weapon choice, you have really very little choices for your party and no character is unique. You instead are playing the game with just remade chars from the previous game. There are 2 melee skills which function the same, 2 ranged skills which function the same. Now, as for not taking chances, jeff does take chances-he did with avadon as he did even more so with geneforge. And they both worked. If jeff wants to really grab the next game concept that might work, he will have to think a bit outside the box like he did with the previous. You cannot give me the he cant take chances thing because steven peeler from soldak entertainment is an even smaller indie roleplaying game company than spiderweb (also run by 1 man) and has taken many more chances than jeff. If he can take chances with kivi's underworld, din's curse, and even more so with a new space action rpg soon to be released-Jeff can too. Steven didnt do well with kivi, everyone scoffed when he made even mention of dins (as it was too similar-he was laughed at). And a space game is completely new as every previous game was fantasy. Jeff has alot of good ideas and im hoping that avernum escape from the pit will be more than just the previous problems. I liked avadon for its unique skill system compared to the previous. I would say this perk thing will make or break avernum in terms of replaying.

His comments on how Blades of Avernum almost destroyed his company pretty much show why Jeff worried with the release of Avadon. It's why you are seeing a remake of Avernum instead of another new game. Why break something that sells. I disagree with all that. What is the point of remaking something that has been done 50 times over. Avernum 1-3 are all the same just as even my fav series geneforge are all essentially the same. Lets compare a similar party series. Icewind dale 1 is a fairly simple yet fun game, though still unique it gets old unless you are partyfan. However Icewind dale 2 unlike avernum1-3 has MAJOR changes compared to the original making the series unique because an actual risk is taken. Now ive played geneforge 1 and beaten it because it was unique. However after playing g2,3,4 and 5 are essentially the same game. Just as avernum 4-6 are clones of geneforge games as the system is the same for alot of things. The only other game i came close to beating was avadon. Most might think that is crazy but i dont because everything is almost completely different. Taking risks is the only way jeff will ever make another unique game. Avadon might be linear but its still unique which is not something i can say for others.
  21. That makes sense I guess. He might run out of ideas though when avadon trilogy is complete.
  22. Ive always liked jeff's geneforge games and thought they were very innovative. However, the rest of his games (to me) were lesser versions of the geneforge games. The only problem lies in the fact that between each of all of his games, lies the truth that nothing truly changes between what you can do. What changes is the story line and a few small things. Aside from that, he doesnt make too many changes between games. Avernum 1-3 were virtually the same game with different storylines. Avernum 4-6 were same aside from the fact that 4 didnt have battle disciplines. Geneforge 1-3 were the same with 4 and 5 having new classes. So i guess you could say that jeff doesnt like to branch out too much as he feels his true fans will find him going too off the beaten path, which is a good thing. However, the only thing i find a problem with all this is that jeff will likely never try a new angle or something different in his games. I always thought that with jeff's games he could make any game and make it awesome so long as its an rpg. One of the game ideas i always wanted jeff to try would be to make an arcanum/technology/magic rpg. The problem is i doubt he would ever try something that is so out of the box.
  23. That is true. Ive found that in the beginning, magic is king. Later on however, melee and ranged shine. Ive always had a tough and almost brutal start with both melee and ranged in avernum 1 and 2. Magic always hits, beginning or end. Problem is magic, besides buffing, doesnt do as much damage as melee and ranged down near the end.
  24. Not that you should go by this, but ive heard from some people that you can heal 150-200 points of damage in one shot from a major first aid healer. Even a master priest with maxed priest spells cant heal that much on a single character. I would recommend going with multiple characters on first aid skill, that way you can circumvent the wait time.
  25. Redbeard really does remind me of chuck norris. He's so unstopable.
