i just did as you said and fought the 1st soldier. I had to lower the difficulty for that one as sevelin is still too low on dex as is jennell. I find that dexterity is almost too good in avadon even affecting the damage. In the future, jeff might have to rework all that as strength barely gives anything except damage. The most important besides dex would probably be endurance but dex still gives you way more. Maybe he could make strength affect your ability to recharge your feats.

Im having a lot of difficulty defeating this dragon. I beat both soldiers barely, by the time i get to the last one, i have nothing left. Do you have to get each one to low health or just one? I beat this before on my first playthrough and it was tough then. My character can hold his own but sevelin is a glass cannon, and shamans dont have much protection. It takes a long while to get to the 3rd soldier, what soldier is the best to focus on?

Monk idea was probably not a good idea, at least for avernum or geneforge series. I do think that jeff could do justice to the monk for avadon as the class system in there is the best of all the games (IMO). But besides all that, i find that perk systems in rpgs give so much to do with your character. Take fallout for example, if you have 5 characters that all have 5 in all the SPECIAL stats, either way you look at it, they will all be different in some way. Im going to guess that a lot of the abilities from avadon and some from avernum will be in this game, which is a good thing. I can see beastmaster (A1trait) in there with mostly all the rest of the traits from the first and second trilogies. Jeff's going to be busy when he's done with the first one though as balancing the second avernum will be much harder due to the already imbalanced race system. Humans will have to have certain perks that are really good that neph's and sliths dont get and vice versa.

I recommend avadon, the story is solid, the characters are real. Like Skwish said, when A:EFTP comes out, that will be really good. I prefer avadon to mostly all of jeff's games as there is a real differentation between classes. You could play the game with 2 shadowwalkers and a shaman, and then replay it with 2 blademasters and a sorc for a complete and total different gameplay experience. Aside from that, nethergate offers that type of experience and is in my opinion much more fun than the avernum 1-3.

The only thing about it is just me. I played the first 3 games as shapers and although you have to play a rebel, i thought you could pass for a shaper as greta was an agent. Aside from that, if jeff ever did do something new for it, i think it would be cool if you could play as an outsider that becomes a shaper. That would be cool as you would be essentially going like trajkov. It would be much more interesting imo than the rebels. Im not really sure how they would go class wise, i would think jeff could just make them average at everything with 1 class, and let you specialize through going through the game.

It is a kind of interesting build. Has anyone on the forums attempted it?

I dont think its possible. Unless fists had a possible bonus that you miss out on by not going with melee, you only would save points from not going melee. I dont even think there is a roll die for fists in geneforge games. If its 1-4 or higher you might make it by, but your probably better off going with avernum 5, 6. Is there a roll die for geneforge?

Books count just as much as games, and in fact are even moreso as reading multiple books, and knowing what is happening in both is difficult. At least for me The best books are the ones that you really dont want to end. The ones i rush through are usually because i am waiting for it to get good.

The only real reason that i object is that while there is only a small difference, i play these games to play as shapers. Now, unless jeff decides to throw in there, (in the future), more classes for the shaper side, i will not and cannot play as a rebel. It just doesnt make sense, cosmetic or not. Even moreso, look at the classes that are different from the shapers. Servile, is just a infiltrator with more health and slight gimped magic, (no difference), shocktrooper, is a guardian that can shape a bit more (no difference really), and the sorceress is a shaper that focuses a bit more on magic and less on shaping ( no difference). If jeff really wanted to make something unique, he could let you play as a regular human that is not created by shapers (trajkov), not being a rebel and instead a human that gets the chance to learn the ways of the shapers. That would be cool. But i doubt jeff will do it, so no worries.

While its been a decent while since i tried g4, i gave it a shot with some seriousness and i cannot seem to play it. While it had some nice new features, what came down on it was the fact that you cannot play as a shaper. I feel that while the mimic classes are meh, i cannot bring myself to playing a non-shaper in any geneforge games. I think that it will make sense that if jeff ever does remake it, to allow you play as a shaper. Greta is a shaper and she is an ally, so you should be able to as well. Until then, i will move onto G5.

I started last week playing avadon and fallout 2 and ive got to say that it helps separating time. Even though im playing 2 games at once, it really works. Am i the only one or has anyone else done this?

My netbook that i got for cheap is on its last leg. I dont want to lose my saves for avadon as i still havent finished it with my new party. Can anyone tell me the whereabouts of the saves for avadon's folder? Oh yeah and will copying the saves and placing them on another computer with avadon actually play? I really dont want to lose these saves as i am really enjoying this go through with my party. Ive yet to complete it once and this time i am certain i will.

I cant lie, avadon was initially one of my hated spiderweb games, but that was only because like you, it didnt live up to geneforge games. However, once i realized that it was really like a bioware game, i came to like it for what it is. Personally, i find avadon to be more to my liking than avernum 1-6. Avernum while given more choices and nonlinear gameplay, is essentially like icewind dale-4 party members that dont talk, converse, no personalities, just adventurers that with no banter.

When A1-3 is Remade, Jeff will Don the Beard

I find that to be more realistic than the 5-7 years which it seems like but who knows. -

Well in some ways you can partially. The perks allow for more flexibility when using your char and flexibility is how the solo singleton characters manage to do specialize in so many things to survive. It wouldnt apply to me as ive never actually soloed any games that werent solo, but still I would like to try one in the future. Edit-By the way Literaturic, will it still be a while before we get to see the strategy central from the current beta. I believe the mac is coming out in late 2011 so i was just wondering to read about it. Only reason i ask is i was able to see Avadon's Strategy Central long before it came out. -

Well youve got to admit that jeff is seeing more success than he did when still new. His game pages have 5 times more good reviews than before. The problem with that is i believe that most people judge the games before they play them. People mostly judge on graphics and thats why alot of the older ones didnt get as much attention as the newer. I still think that jeff will see more success for an indie game company when said games are released but dont hold me to it. -
Im convinced that while Jeff Vogel has managed to stay unnoticed on as major of a scale as bioware and other big companies; I still believe that when Avernum 1-3 are remade and Geneforge 1-? are remade (and on ipad and iphone), Jeff will don the Redbeard and assume his place as keeper. I think that because he took a risk to put his games on the new platform, that was the best decision he made. The question is will Jeff Vogel be a celebrity (like bioware) when that happens?

I really liked the graphics and story of Avadon. Cheers I hear you my friend! I find that while my first play with avadon was not so good. The 2nd time ive really gotten into it. I find that the characters in avadon are what separate it from geneforge and avernum. Avernums got the party thing down, geneforge has the unforgetable story, avadon's got unforgetable characters like redbeard. The only problem is that none of the other games have characters on par with redbeard

Im sure that its even more possible than in previous games. Think about it, with a perk like system thats even remotely like fallouts perk system, you should be able to do it with a few ways to choose. -
What have you been reading recently?
Death Knight replied to Emmisary of Immanence's topic in General
My favorite is the 4th chinese classic-"Outlaws of the Marsh", or Water Margin. Epic martial arts! -

Ive found it hard to read almost anything unless its on a computer. I used to read a lot and was a big fan of R.A. Salvatore and any of the great Chinese classic trilogies, now i cant pick up any book. Last book i tried to read was the first book on the wheel of time, couldnt get into it. The only good thing about this is that any of jeff's really awesome games are almost exactly like reading a book. Does anyone else think so? -
When i say real college, Im referring to a regular college as the first one was different (being a community college). Im not saying that in a bad way as to be frank, my first 2 years were great compared to kean.
-
I got done with my community college and then started a real college 2 years ago. The professors are so crazy its like reverse animal house. One pretends he has tourettes and then curses off students, another one misses 14 out of 30 classes and then gives everyone an A (which is actually cool), another one writes poems about the pope's you know what, one teacher threw a pen at a student, and finally one professor lists his profile picture as tigger with a black cloak while he sounds like a sesame street character. I dont think my school has been hard to deal with, except for a few of the above listed. I still do think that college professors get way too many liberties but it is always worth a few laughs.

Thank you turtle, i can now play the game again. Very helpful of you!!

runner faiga- 1-"Why do you live out here? 2-I am in need of information. Those are the only two dialogs i get and when i pick one, they connect with each other and have no relative info to the beast or the woods. That is faiga, kellen cant work because i told moritzkri. I really hope that i dont have to start over as ive never beaten the game but did get close.
