A:EftP - Checking every day...
Death Knight replied to Ociporus's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
Well another week isnt so bad. What is bad is that when the demo is out for mac (although my parents have a mac) I mainly have a pc. So another couple months. I hope that in the future jeff makes it so pc doesnt get screwed with that, although its really not the biggest deal. -
Pit Fighter, Last to Surrender, Honor, Assault on Precinct 13.

I actually started doing some of the ogrym castle wipeout. Its not easy but not overly impossible. I got stuck with the mexican monk guy that punches everyone. Then it hit me, why not take out the soldiers before fighting him. He didnt stand a chance without the reinforcements.
-
Well thats good to know, thanks. That might just give me an idea on what i have to get to before i go near the khemerians. So far this is the one spiderweb game where i think i might go through it another time.

Of the many music soundtracks he did for the main screens, I found that avernum 4/nethergate was the most catchy. Avadon's was the most epic, avernum 5 was really cool and very dark/foreboding, and avernum 1 was the best. When i listen to the first avernum's intro music, i can actually feel the dreadfulness of being down there. I really hope he keeps that music for the remake of avernum. It was truly awesome!

Oh...what i meant was that i just got done with the forced solo fight with shigaz with the bandits. So, i used a party against this fight. Since im almost done with the game, i will do some side quests and get to maybe 23 or 25, would that be a decent level before i fight salom. Im not sure as i dont know exactly how far im into the game.
-
Im ready to bring lord carsta to justice, however i am beaten by hunter salom time and time again. His soldiers deal a lot of damage even to my all dex based-main character. No magic attacks can even hit him, no curses, I barely do enough damage and once i lose my one guy im screwed. Are there any tips anyone can give me to make this easier? I just did the mage fight solo with my main character and it was fairly moderate difficulty. Could it be that i am doing this fight too early, im only lvl 20.

You dont have to make a character of everyone but if you do make one for me, i dont care what i am, so long as my character is someone elusive

Id like to playtest this scenario but the question is can i review it after I get through it? Do you have to be a moderator to review scenarios?

Heh, this sounds cool. Will this be a serious story or comic/serious? Im only asking because I really got into a webcomic by the name of "Dungeon Crawlers". The comic was comedy and stupid but still it was funny to me because im a d and d nerd.

Ive played d and d computer games my whole life, yet ive never actually played one game of d and d. So sad... I actually have a roleplaying group that is close to my town and operates weekly with it costing maybe $3 per visit. Ive just never gotten off my laziness to go there.

I just beat moritzkri and i must say, he wasnt hard at all compared to last fight. Dexterity for everyone is almost too great for doing well at the game. I think that in avadon 2, jeff should make intelligence and mental resistance more lethal if ignored for mages and maybe others too. I cant remember one time where an enemy made me lose a fight through my chars going charmed/mental. Intelligence should effect how well curses work against enemies if it doesnt already. Overall itd be cool to see new types of fighting classes due to int having more uses.

Honestly, i can see someone making a movie/animated thing on the geneforge series, but were talking in a while. At least 10 years when someone really thinks over the idea decides on doing it. Things such as that usually happen when were all gone, and at that point we wont get to see it anyway.

I remember with oldschool avernum there was a night and day and there might have even been a few differences. Will A: EFTP have a night and day aspect like the original and will that affect gameplay (rolls).

I remember that i was watching a video on youtube of a comic and video game signing where actor-David Warner (Actor of Morpheus in Fallout 1 and Irenicus in BG2) was signing stuff for people. Needless to say, something really funny happened. Warner asked one fan what's up and the guy kept repeating lines from baldurs gate 2 (irenicus), at one point Warner asked him what the meaning of it was. The guy replied-"Silence dog, you have no purpose but to die by my hand", or something like that. It was a kind of funny video but after i thought about it, it was kind of sad. I kind of felt bad for warner being type cast for just those things.

Ive been thinking about jeffs new perk system from playing some fallout 2 and it occurred to me. Jeff might include passive perks along with ones you have to activate. For example, beastmaster perk is an active perk which allows for you to summon a monster once per day. Whereas the perk-onehanded weapon specialist would be passive. Im wondering because will jeff possibly add perks such as dagger mastery/sword/mace mastery like in exile games? I hope he does because I think that a good mix of both passive and active perks will be good for avernum and weapons mastery traits are cool too.

To find the classic "virtues" of RPGs gone by, you have to either go back to old titles, or hope an indie company like Spiderweb puts out something like, well, this. I agree with what you are saying. The only thing that jeff has to fear, if anything, is getting rid of the isometric top down view that he has. If jeff keeps making games the way he is doing right now, he will mostlikely never go out of business. I dont think jeff will ever change that because the demand is so high for the series and the oldschool feel, and because he has no reason to change what keeps his company working.

That maybe true. I have played it once. However, i still feel that bioware's golden age was 1998-2003. From then on, it takes a big change into mainstream and didnt make as many good games. Jade empire was a different case though. I would say what really made me lose heart with them was mass effect. I dont understand what the thing was with the game but i found it to be one of the worst games i ever played. First Person Shooting games and 3rd person shooting games just dont mesh as well with rpg. The reason being is that guns are always overpowered as usual, and games like fallout 3 (which is another one), try and balnance melee with guns, and it never works. Now, if you make the game a tactical game with overtop view, even if the game is realtime, it is easier to sift through the chaos. In a way this is probably just my rant, and it is. But i favor the topdown view with isometric characters.

It depends on what you are trying to do. For example, i bought a netbook for $60.00 at bestbuy and it works really well for games like the ones i play (fallout 1,2, tactics, Lionheart and almost anything from spiderweb works too). However, games like avadon run with minor glitches that you can handle. I am probably going to have to add a 2 gb chip to it when i get the chance. However, considering the price i got lucky as it was decreased over 5 years from never being looked at. I would recommend buying a laptop as you can bring it anywhere. I would not recommend getting a cheap one like mine though. Buy one that you dont have to upgrade but isnt going to steal your wallet. If i could have done it over, i would have bought a larger laptop than mine for 2 or 300 dollars more.

[video] Avadon LP series for people looking at the game...
Death Knight replied to Tekkor's topic in Avadon Series
Cool video! Ill keep an eye on it and i hope you intend to make more. -
You see, thats it really. The reason why i like avadon so much is because it reminds of what bioware used to remind me of. Avadon, with all its npcs, characters and excellent villains, reminds me of a baldurs gate 1 or 2. Its not really sad to say, but jeff vogel is more or less the last remnants of that era. Ive played dragon age maybe once, and from what ive seen it was more of a soap opera. My friends who had the game used to tell me that the game was more based on talking, and conversing than it was on combat. So yeah im glad that jeff is making these games and i cant wait for avadon 2.

I find the game to be just right with mostly a lot of things. I probably will like the new game regardless.

Well, what can i say. Since i gave avadon a second chance, i find that i like it even more than geneforge. (I will get flamed for this). Being almost finished with avadon, Ive been watching Avernum: EFTP for a while. Now its the middle of november and i wish that i became a beta tester but i dont think that i wouldve made it, not yet. Either way, im not sure. Im anticipating this game, but I dont know if since i liked avadon so much, if this avernum remake, will be anything like it. The main reason why i like avadon just a bit more than geneforge is because its still single player where you create a character, but you dont have to create a party like Icewind dale/avernum. I remember that avernum original you get to recruit people into your party, im hoping that jeff does that avadon style with the recruits having a personality. Either way i am quibbling over this but i will say this-in the future i want to participate in at least 1 beta from this company, just for my own satisfaction
