http://www.fanfiction.net/u/360120/ Thats the website where the avernum stories were posted. You can get a lot of people to read it on there. I know this might just be me, but i would say if you get enough stories (20+ pages), you could put it on amazon kindle. Im eventually posting a lot of things on there. That just might be me though.

For a name for a servile, I would suggest naming her Vreka or Volkra. They sound pretty cool. I look forward to your story and will keep it open in the future for possible things to read!

Im going to make a solo shocktrooper in Geneforge 4. Ive decided that while i dont like playing as a rebel and that, playing any of the said classes the said way in any of the later geneforges is too easy; i will make this challenge to myself. Instead of bumping strength to a high amount, i will instead spend points on melee weapons and dexterity instead of missile weapons. The reason being is that while missile weapons will be part of the weapons i use (wands/rod), dex is more imporant to this character as it not only allows me to dodge better but it gives me a chance to hit with missiles. This character will abuse missile weapons though not so much batons as much as rods and wands/crystals. Melee is an option as well when i am low on missiles, though parry is pointless beyond a few levels. Battle magic is out of the question as troopers are weak in it, as well as mental. I will mostly be using blessing magic as it will enhance my character. I hope to get up to battle roar by the endgame and will skip spellcraft as it does little for blessings. The only thing i am unsure of will be whether i should go with the rebels or the shapers. Im not sure which is easier really. Ive played the game before as shapers and dont think it would be any different the other way, however havent played that way. Any tips (last requests) anyone can make before oblivion?

GeneForge 5, sad to see it go. (Or maybe not?)[G5]
Death Knight replied to AethirWeb's topic in Geneforge Series
I talked to jeff a month ago about geneforge. He said he will be remaking the entire series, however he doesnt know how he will go about doing it. He said he would either get done with avernum, then avadon 2, then do a geneforge 1 remake, or hold off until the avernum remakes are done. I would hope for the former, that way each group of fans are satisfied. Plus, a geneforge 1 remake will be epic. -
Then i dont really know what i did wrong. I killed the huntress that had wolves and basilisks with her, she was in a tunnel. Yet gavin still wont act like i killed the right one. Do you have to kill ALL the creatures in the building for gavin to accept shes dead?

Alright im am at endgame berazu woods, i just want to find the bridge that i am supposed to cross to get to varoche (the hunter that im supposed to remove) The soldiers guarding the lower path are too hard to fight, so i need to take the high entrance. The map says there's a path/bridge there and the wayfarer is across from it but i cant seem to find the path. Does anyone know what im talking about?

Im a little surprised the music is more epic than the gothic yet catchy tune of avernum original. -

Hm..ive already noticed a few things that ive wished for for a while. Quick action is moved up to being unlocked, as is parry and sharpshooter-this leads to me to believe that there will be new skills in this game that were previously not in any of the prior avernum games. Its actually a good thing as quick action is way too powerful in the beginning games as its almost an instant kill. I can see the game structure of free-roaming hasnt changed. All good signs! -
Were going to have to do something special when the next person on here reaches 20,000. Just because it'll take a while before that happens. Maybe jeff can make an appearence.

That could be done really well if put into a game setting like Planescape Torment or anything that is all about the concept-Nothing is the way it appears to be.
-
Im not sure but i think that curse enemy is the same as weakness curse from avadon where you lower the chance to hit/and be hit and damage taken for the opponent hit with the weapon. If that makes any sense.

Yeah props for the maps, i couldnt find out where carstalestra or whatever his name was hiding.

There's one major thing that im not sure of. Blades of Exile has dual wielding. Im not sure if exile 1 had it, but if it did, then exile wins handsdown. Only being restricted to using onehanded swords and polearms is not as good of a system as exile- Swords, Bluntweapons, Polearms and Dualwielding. Thats at least 6 more different possible builds to use. Much more interesting system if thats the case.

Yeah, i found that while the later avernums (5, 6) were very different from the earlier, Geneforge 1, 2, and some extent 3 were very similar to avernum's first trilogy. When avernum escape from the pit is launched with the new perk system, im hoping that there will be more builds available due to that talent/perk system. As i have beaten just geneforge 1, (and almost avadon), i find the other geneforge and avernum games to be very similar to one another. You can do melee, pole or bows. What im really looking forward to is if there would be a difference from say core types. For example Strength based 1-Onehanded weapon/shield master 2-Dual Wield 3-Twohanded weapon master or Dex based versions of the mentioned. That'd be cool because in the avadon series, you can do that and not only that, you can do it well.

Ive been thinking about all the avernum and geneforge games ive played. I find that I like most of the geneforge games all the same, as i find that the story is usually great in all of them. However, the avernum series is very different for me. I find that some of the avernum games have stories that really grab me, while others dont grab as much. For me, Avernum 1 has the best story as you can seriously feel the dread and survival that surrounds the entire game both in the game and the title music. I feel that avernum 1 is my favorite, then with Avernum 4, 2, and 3. 5 and 6 are probably my least favorite as the story didnt grab me as much as the others mentioned. 2 and 3 were cool because they picked up right after 1 which is kind of cool. 4 is great in my opinion because it has a good story and at the same time, challenged me to the right amount. Of course, other people must have different thoughts. What is everyone elses favorite game storywise?

Actually, its interesting you should say that. We learned of a man that wrote a book about his theft escapades in school. The man was a drugdealer who made the statement that the only way he could maintain his drug problem was to steal $1000 a day from people. He stated that the only way to do this was to rob from the poor. He made the assumption that the rich were too difficult to rob (security) whereas the poor had no security. He achieved this for 20 years until he passed away of natural causes and was never caught. It makes sense if you think about it. Why steal $1000 from a guy that has an insane amount of securty, when you can steal $10, multiple times from a guy with none.

So if that is the case with rogues, then what kind of weapon perks would we be likely to see, if any. As it stands now, ive got about no idea where jeff is going with this perk system he is launching. He says there are only few game-changing ones like backstab which i can guess is from avadon, so im really not sure what to expect with the perks. They must be passive, yes that makes sense. But is he going to go as far as fallout with say- Beastmaster (summon beast twice a day) a la avernum original, with others toughness (again original avernum). I could somewhat guess driftmoon's perk system and how it would turn out as i had an idea what they were thinking before i bought it. But jeff..thats another matter.

Well just remember that were going to have to have an even better party at 40,000. But seriously, thanks for the possibility of some of us making it as far.

Its too bad about jobs, seemed like such a cool guy.

Avernum escape from the pit will be finished first. After that then avadon 2 will be next. Im in the same boat that your in

Well at least the strategy central will give me more than enough time to prepare for the epicness of this game. -
