I dont think the gog version has the saves in a folder for the pc. I hope i dont have to, but i might have to start over.
-
Wait which game folder. I have the demo of geneforge 3 from spiderweb's main site, but that version doesnt work on my laptop. Im talking about the good old games version of the game. In that folder, there are no save files.

I have the good old games version of gene forge 3 on my computer. I want to get the save folders on this computer and put them on my laptop. The problem is that the save folder for the good old games version is nowhere to be found on my vista computer. I looked in my documents, my computer, its no where to be found. Can anyone tell me where the saved games folder is on a vista pc. Im going on a vacation in a few days and don't want to lose my character that is getting further in the game. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

The only reason is that while i can play an agent and not a sorceress, it is mostly because the agent actually uses swords and fights as well as casting. Ive never been able to play casting characters as my main class even if they are powerful just because i dont like casters. The classes i like when in roleplaying games are- Rogues, Fighters, Ranged or melee/casting bards, monks, rangers, archers, assassins, or anyclass that is powerful with weapon skills. Im using a sorceress as an ally in avadon but for my main character Id rather play a shaman, shadowwalker, or blademaster. Thats just my preference.

With the shaman I found that when i didnt use any pets in a medium/big fight, I lost out and barely made it through. Shamans arent made to do the most damage, what they are made to do is assisting through summoning a pet, and while using the pet as a deooy-assist in destroying enemies. With healing they get one of the most useful spells in the game-group heal. The only class i could never really play as would be the sorceress.

Avernum's First 3
Death Knight replied to Death Knight's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
Thats awesome. So all 3 games are very much like the 1st. Thats a lot of fun gaming to be had -
I tried getting further in avernum 1 but had a bit of trouble with the interface and dated graphics. Im now nearing the middle of the new game avernum escape from the pit and am really enjoying it. I have a question to many of you guys who've already beaten avernum 1-3. Is avernum 2 and 3 original like the future remakes 2 and 3 where you start the game and youve got the story and the rest is just mini side encounters. Im only asking because im currently loving the suspenseful waiting until the end to find out about the endgame storyline. Are 2 and 3 as suspenseful as original avernum. It kind of reminds me of geneforge 1 and I like that suspenseful not knowing what this is all about.

Awesome news! Id buy it but I already have the whole 5 games. Will send the word to friends though!

Forced cowardice with Cave Lore?
Death Knight replied to Aydin's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2011-2018 remake versions)
I always wanted to play through one time with a character that uses cave lore, gets all the caches, and is kind of like a ranger type from a roleplaying point of view. Not so much as avoiding things, but moreso with aiding the party with the items that aid everyone. I think there's a few items from the first expedition that give bonuses to first aid, traps and other things that would be cool. -
Im pretty siked that they're making more movies to begin with. There's really too few fantasy movies in general. One of these days I really got to read one of those lotr books. Ive heard they're awesome but am not sure which one to read. Ive seen the movies too many times so Im not sure.

That was always one thing i never understood about gene forge 5's nonlinear approach. In gene forge 1 and 2 you had that but in reality all that it was was that you couldn't hit the enemy as well until you got more levels (if i remember correctly). With gene forge 5, you not only can't hit certain opponents until higher, but it also seemed like you did less damage if you were too low a lvl. Geneforge 5, seems to be more like avernum escape from the pit in that aspect.

One of the things that I really just cant understand about tragedies like this is that it seems like people emulate when seeing other people do big things. This relates to the fact that copy-cat joker events are coming up where people are either saying they might do something, or are doing something very much like what happened. I understand that the human mind is capable of crazy things but it just seems a little bit extreme and if anything makes me wonder just how obsessed some people are with the joker character and differentiating between real life and fantasy.

Onghror is funny as anything in this game. He really is a different type of ogre than you usually meet in most of jeff's games but also most of other rpgs. Most ogres I've seen in rpgs are not that intelligent and have the typical dialogue-"You come here, me eat YOU!" Or something along those lines.

Ive never really played the original exile games that much but one of the things that i never understood about jeff's games was how he got rid of some weapon classes. I understand that maces and axes were not as prevalent as swords and spears in real life, but why did he have to eliminate them from all the games. I can get why he didnt want them in geneforge as the setting doesnt support that, but avadon and avernum 2nd trilogy? What was his reasoning behind that?
-
I would say jeff already does a pretty fast time making each game within a year. Whats funny about spiderweb and jeff is when I mention to someone about the company that hasnt heard, their first reaction is so has he made a few good games? A few, how bout like 20.

The media will no doubt cleanse his mind of any info but I happen to think that people know suspects are like this and do nothing. The Virginia Tech shooter had even less secretive and more bizarre behavior, and no one did a thing. The typical behavior for this sort of thing is cruelty to animals, lack of morals, and extreme anti-social personality disorder. Anti social personality disorder tends to develop in people when they spend long periods of time alone and out by themselves in self-destructive conditions. This is not to say that loners are doomed to be psychos, but it doesn't help when your already addled in the head.

Alright man, I know that your a fan of the joker. I am too. However, theres a big difference between fantasy, and killing people in real life. You didnt have to kill those people, you could have crept along the theatre like a nut and people might have laughed. This is why there is a need for video games, get your frustration out on them, not on the public. I doubt thats the only reason behind what he did so I guess it wont have mattered. Has anyone else heard about this?
-
Oh, I didn't know that. When I read it under dex it stated that it affects chance to hit. Then in that case dex is not as needed as i thought.
-
I have to argue with strength being the most important. A 5% chance of dodge/tohit from each point in dex is very important, it helps both to hit and dodge. This is very important for some creations that cant tank as well as some of the big guys.

Who will the Keeper in Avadon 2 be? (Spoilers)
Death Knight replied to Denizen of Terrestia's topic in Avadon Series
I would say none will die, sevelin and/or natalie might get a higher position. Shima will mysteriously disappear and i have no idea what will happen to jenell. -
http://www.proudft.com/natuk.html See link above if you want. Not that this matters, but this site i linked above was one of the only other game companies I've been able to find that has graphics and style like original exile. The game Nahlahk was more like ultima original, but natuk, towers of darkness and pirates of the seas were all very much like the exile series with graphics, movement and party based combat. I played the games a bit and they are a little hard to get into, but very unique with 8 player party based. I still prefer avernum, but kind of cool if anyone is into that sort of thing.

Who will the Keeper in Avadon 2 be? (Spoilers)
Death Knight replied to Denizen of Terrestia's topic in Avadon Series
Thats a pretty cool idea. Im playing a shaman right now for my 2nd playthrough that is almost like a ranger. Only a javelin rather than a bow. Lots of healing, dex and wolves to back me up. What i like about the shaman is that you can play her as a caster/summoner, or play her as a summoner/marksman which is cool too. -
Who will the Keeper in Avadon 2 be? (Spoilers)
Death Knight replied to Denizen of Terrestia's topic in Avadon Series
Well what really would be awesome, but i doubt it will happen, is making melee much more feasible in fights in the game. As it stands now, melee is great but hard to setup for all the major bosses. When i played through and beat the game the 1st time, i made all my characters specialize in ranged combat and very rarely used melee as ranged was easier to use. I had 2 bowman blademasters, and a shaman for ranged/healing support. Having characters that specialize in ranged combat is a deadly asset in avadon.
