  1. Well that sounds awesome. Im currently Lvl 25, so I must be getting closer to that part of the game.
  2. Sorry if this means the topic will be locked. I wasn't trying to start a flame war and am sorry about the problems this caused, Im just so used to being able to talk about mostly anything as the freedom in these forums is great.
  3. Alright, Ive gone too far and too long without knowing what exactly the religion of scientology is. I for the most part have a pretty decent understanding of most religions, however Ive never been able to get an honest opinion of what scientology REALLY is. Im fairly agnostic to be honest, which is why I like to know a good amount about each. Usually whenever anyone tells me about it, they say its crazy and that they can't explain it without making jokes about Tom Cruise and Southpark. Does anyone on here happen to have a realistic understanding of what its all about?
  4. I would say of the games Avernum 4 would be the hardest game I played and just quit playing because I couldn't stand it. Melee is awful and spells and bows are the only way to take down enemies from afar. Plus the undead are extremely annoying.
  5. Well Im not sure if you know or not but Avernum 6 will be out for iPad in October. I think jeff will do that with some of the other more recent games.
  6. Thats what Ive heard some people say. I think someone else said on here that Avadon is tougher than Geneforge and Avernum as you really need to think before each action and make at least 2 attack actions per round. My recent battle with the mind taker leaves me with the idea that just like last play through, a dexterity high, ranged attacker with regenerating on for enough rounds, can take the heat, while the rest of the party destroys.
  7. I currently am (slowly) getting better at jeff's games while playing Avadon and Avernum Escape from the Pit. Im probably in mid game in both (Avadon being my 2nd time completing) and Avernum my 1st time. One of the things I've noticed about the series jeff's made is that Avernum for the most part is the easiest to play and get through the tough fights, while Avadon and Geneforge have easy fights in between big ones, but the big ones are brutal. Maybe this is just me, but if I were to rate the games based on their challenge (if gene forge series was remade) It would be something like this: Easiest to Hardest- Avernum, Avadon, Geneforge. I think that Avernum so far has the least hardest fights while some of the big fights can be tough. Avadon on the other hand doesn't have some of the hardest, but the boss fights such as The mind taker drake were much harder than Avernum. Then of course there is Geneforge where certain classes have an easy time throughout the game, while other classes is just butchery. Does anyone else have a different consensus for which is the hardest/easiest series if they were all compared. Im talking mostly if it was balanced and Geneforge 1 was remade with new engine.
  8. Wait don't the flaming swords count as part physical and part elemental. There's usually an oozing sword in gene forge and avernum series as well.
  9. One of the only things I didnt like with guns in games was Fallout 1 and 2, guns were universally so lethal to the point where I dont rightly know if it's possible to get through the game with melee, unarmed or something else. This is not to say I didnt love playing the game with my critical hit pistol user, but I thought it would have been cool if the game could be played the other way.
  10. Well Ill take your word for it as Im still in mid game and have yet to fight the golems.

  12. I dont see why it cant be enjoyed on normal. Get 3 fighters and give them a high hardiness and extra endurance and minor in first aid. Along with an archer for enemies that are far away. If you think about it, instead of searching for weapons, you'd mostly only need potions for healing and other minor buffs. The archer can usually be given an attack and buffs to use on the tanks while they slaughter. It may not be as easy as a typical party but I think that if you play on normal and make proper use of tactics, it could be done.
  13. So the main setup would likely be a Broadsword in main hand and shortsword in off hand due to no real reason of using daggers, at least not that I know. This is very interesting as Im so used to d and d's way where daggers are more powerful. Ill keep this in mind next playthrough when I dual wield one of my fighters.
  14. First aid can be very useful although the circumstances are if you only travel with a party of physical damage characters with no priests or mages. It is possible to make a party of only fighters and archers but most likely hard as anything. I would say it would be hard but not so much if you have a decent first aid skill, good supply of potions and proper tactics.
  15. One of the things Ive always wondered about jeff's games was why all of the single create a character rpgs (like geneforge and avadon) that he makes, almost always have a better story than games like nethergate and avernum where you create a party. It seems like it might just be that jeff has mentioned that his writing has gotten better over the years.
  16. Other than eschalon, another game that I like alot is The Quest. I know the graphics arent the best, but to me, the game is a lot of fun.
  17. If Spiderweb is king of party based games then Eschalon Series Book 1 and 2 is the king of single character rpgs. Im serious, these games are really awesome. Excellent stat and skill system that allows for ultimate freedom when making your character. The specialization that is allowed for your character is very much like the specialization in all of jeff's earlier games that allowed for it. These are the only games other than jeff's that I play and replay over again.
  18. It really was a great video. Hopefully Jeff keeps making videos like that and if anything, the more bioware the better.
  19. There is one area of sliths I did with my 3 person party at lvl 12. North of dranlon, by boat, there should be a slith temple and a group of sliths that patrol. If you reach any of the huts that have human prisoners, you might be able to deal with those fights especially the ones with mages that help you out. The 1st hut you do gives reputation. The way I did the fights is before the enemy launches an attack, I have my fighter/priest (or 1st character in party) get behind the random npcs and cast protection. I then let the enemy focus most of their first attacks on the npcs your supposed to protect. My fighters chip away at the sliths while my priest uses aoes to take enemy's health down. Those fights can sometimes be really tough but if you let your npcs absorb the 1st group of attacks, you should be able to do them at lvl 12.

  21. Sorry to say this, but I have no feats to these games The games I am good at are fast-paced action/rpgs where time is of the essence. (Note I said good at) I don't like action/rpgs as much as turn based games. However, while I like turn based games more, I generally am absolutely terrible at them compared to the other games mentioned.
  22. From what I can see and what Ive spoken with jeff about, I would say that jeff pretty much would go with a general approach instead of a maximize damage one. I doubt he would follow the strategy central approach as I think that he would be more inclined to go with an approach likewise to his builds at the creation screen-Shaman, Berserker, Rogue. I might be wrong but why else would he include adding dexterity to a fighter based class if he doesn't play one himself. I spoke with jeff about this a while back and he said he usually plays each game he makes 1 time.
  23. I do know that but what I was saying was that where does that leave the black isle company as a whole. They mostlikely wont be able to work on Icewind Dale and or Planescape Torment.
  24. http://www.blackisle.com/ That link is to the new and revised black isle studio site, which is supposedly back. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I for one, dont know what to think. They are remaking baldurs gate series and others, what else would black isle do. Rebuild a team and start over? Thoughts?
