  1. I'm guessing whatever runs on Catalina will also run on the new M1 Apple Silicon Macs. Is it only Queen's Wish and Geneforge 1: Mutagen that work on Catalina?
  2. If I purchase Escape From the Pit for Macintosh, will I also for no additional cost be able to play the Windows version when it comes out and the iPad version if I ever get an iPad? Thank you!
  3. I'm sure all the beta testers are having way too much fun playing Avadon beta to be reading the forums, and they are probably bound by a non-disclosure agreement anyway.
  4. I miss the keyboard shortcuts of the original Avernum Trilogy.
  5. From what I've seen of the Avadon screenshots, I think the graphics are just about as good as possible for a 2D computer game. Having the game be 3D would just raise the system requirements, making it harder to port to iPad and making it harder to run on netbook, and making it use more battery power for portable computers. After playing WoW for a few months on my laptop, my laptops graphics card wore out. My poor laptop always spun its little fan so hard playing WoW. I tried to keep it elevated to keep her cool. :'( Anyway, 3D wouldn't add anything meaningful to the game anyway. It would be nice for desktop users, but laptops are way more popular, especially among younger people who are more likely to play in-depth games like this.
  6. He doesn't say that it is intel only. He just says it will run natively on Intel Macs. It would be strange to say it will run natively on Intel Macs, but fail to mention that it only runs on Intel Macs. I don't know what percentage of his customers use PowerPC Macs, and he probably doesn't either. He probably would not take the chance of potentially cutting out a large part of his market. >System Requirements: > >PC Running Windows XP or later or Macintosh running System 10.4 or later >800 MhZ processor. Minimum 1.6 GhZ processor recommended. >Video card or processor with OpenGL support and 32 MB video RAM (64 >MB recommended). >512 MB RAM, and 200 MB hard disk space. >1024x600 screen resolution with 32 bit color. >Avadon will run natively on Intel Macintoshes.
  7. I just had to share this cool stuff from the beta. http://i.imgur.com/ltwJM.png

  9. I watched all three of the "Lord of the Rings" movies back-to-back. I found them kind of boring. I did enjoy the book "The Hobbit," though.

What are some good ways to raise ire of the moderators? Just for informational purposes only, of course.

    "u" is an auto-explore key?
  12. I'm kind of thinking Jeff plans on waiting until after Christmas to send out beta copies. Maybe I'll stop checking email every minute.
  13. I don't believe the subtitle gives it away. Subtitles are rarely definitions of the main title. Examples: "Exile 2: Crystal Souls" "Geneforge 4: Rebellion" "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" "Fallout: New Vegas" "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"

That sounds a lot faster than wall bumping.
  15. Surely Theophilus already knows that Avadon is the upcoming. Perhaps he what he actually wanted to know what Avadon is. Is Avadon a sword? Is avadon a tree? Is Avadon a fort? Is Avadon a fish? Answer: Avadon is a keep, the strongest or central tower of a castle.

    Questions

So in Avernum 4-6 and the Geneforge series I won't be able to find secret passages by bumping into walls? It is rather time consuming bumping into every bit of wall, but it is also fun finding a secret.
  17. When I bought the Avernum trilogy CD, I was able to have the codes emailed to me too. But that was in like April.
  18. I think I I wasn't being very clear in my last post. You can order the trilogy CD, get the codes emailed to you, and type the codes into the demo versions to turn them into the full registered versions. The demo versions are already on there and they just need to be registered. You can have registration codes emailed to you when you order.
  19. I thought the bundle came with the CD. I don't think you would need to load the CD onto BasiliskII. I put all the Exile trilogy demo software on there. When you order the game, you should be able to get the registration keys emailed to you, I think.

    Questions

I don't recommend playing the Exile games or the original Nethergate unless you plan on playing it on a computer with an operating system from the 90s or you feel you are hardcore or something. Modern operating systems don't run the games in the "older games" section so well.

Oh, lol, you're right. Mine was instant too.

    Questions

Yes. All games have extensive demos. When you purchase a game, the registration code will be emailed to you. But I believe this is done manually, so the code will not arrive instantly.
  23. I couldn't ever get that to work properly. You could try opening "BasiliskIIGUI.exe" and unchecking "Disable CD-ROM Driver" and selecting your "CD-ROM Drive", but it wouldn't work for me. You could also try opening "BasiliskIIGUI.exe" and checking the "Enable 'My Computer' icon on your Mac desktop (external file system)." If it still won't read your CD, you can try copying the contents of the CD to your C drive first, and then trying to open those files from within the "My Computer" on your Mac Desktop. But copying old Mac files to a drive in a modern format could make the old Mac files unusable. I'm guessing this is the Exile Trilogy CD that you are wanting to read. I think a problem with this is that the disk is probably in a hybrid format. I'm guessing you will only be able to read the PC side of the disk. If you have a Mac you have access to with a copy of Roxio's toast installed, you could convert it to something you can open in BasiliskII. Maybe someone else has better ideas. If you can't get anything to work, and you really want your CD in BasiliskII, you could snail mail me the CD that need converting. Then I will convert it, mail you the CD back, and email you a disk image with instructions. PM me if you want to do this.
