  1. I will probably sign up and participate under alias this time.
  2. A thought occurred to me. Registration date is the only thing that a user cannot change on the forums. Just for fun's sake, I propose that 3 days from now, all users should change their PDNs, signitures, and avatars, and attempt to identify who is actually who. Of course stick to a single new identity, and reveal who is who after the day.
  3. Not War. It feels like Jeff is starting to choose an almost "easier" path for story lines. I still love and purchase Jeff's games, and the stories are excellent, just not as much as they could be and were. I think from the numerous topics on which geneforge game is the series favorite, the first one is heavily the chosen. The story was great, having choices, mystery (about the geneforge and Sholai and whatnot), and very unique. The second was the same way, and very different from the first game. With the third one, the story was a war, and I feel it makes it much weaker in several ways. The war in the third game severely limited the potential for factions, and its surprising Jeff found room for them in the 5th game. It makes the ending very predictable, and it cuts out much of the mystery and discovery that made G1 so much more fun. Jeff games aren't graphic-intensive fyora-exploding fun necessarily, it can feel repetitive at times, and it is clear why people often say the story is what makes Jeff's games. By making it so predictable and less exciting, it really seems to cut enjoyment out of the games. And it has been war for the past few games. The series firsts have been pretty unique, but when the past 3 Geneforge releases, and recent Avernum release, it feels like it is the same thing, just a war you fight in with little wonder of what is going to happen in the story as a whole. While releasing war-story based sequels, Avadon was released with a war-story as well. Certainly, Jeff has done a fantastic job keeping the war-stories unique and good, but it would be very refreshing for some classic fantasy full of wonder and uniqueness. I'm not bashing the stories at all. But I'm wondering if anyone feels the same way?
  4. Best item in the game by far. Darian is north of Barzahls town (the zone east of the bridge north of the town if i remember correctly.)
  5. Thanks, I'll try it. I can't wait to play the saga again while I'm away, it was so much fun before.
  6. I purchased the geneforge saga a long time ago. Problem is, I will be away from my desktop for a long time, and want to play the games on my laptop. I have the CDs purchased, but they contain outdated versions, and I want to play the most recent versions. Is it possible to make the demos into full version by transferring the prefs file from the full version to the demo on my laptop? Or will I have to email Jeff asking for new codes, even though I am having trouble finding my proofs of purchase for them all?

There is literally no reason to tax your computers hardware and shorten its lifespan to get a framerate of 125- it's just stupid. Actually, there is a difference on the game I play with having 125 FPS. I don't see a need to go into detail as to why, but its an old game, which relies on CPU more than graphics card, and isn't very graphic intensive anyway, so 125 FPS isn't hard to get.
  8. Not sure about ATI and Nvidia, but I for some reason favor ATI. As for AMD and Intel, I like AMD much better. I have two PCs with the same specs specs, besides the processors, and both have integrated graphics chips. The Intel one is supposed to be better and is brand new, while the AMD has been sitting around for a while getting cluttered. The AMD gets a steady FPS of at least 125 (where I cap it) on my favorite FPS on almost every map. The Intel often drops to around 40 FPS, despite having the graphics settings on the PC to max performance.
  9. I rescue Hawistha (or whatever her name is) in Galag-Trav. Unfortunately, as I am using a solo character, I have very limited inventory slots. I bring her back, without saving while I progress, and I finally save her and receive my reward. Unfortunately, because I had no more slots, it gave the intelligence bracelet to Hawistha, who disappears at the same time, so I didn't get my reward from them. Are there many other situations like this?

For a better analysis of password "strength", try this. Weird how adding a j at the end can make a password go from 1 hour to 21 thousand years.
  11. Weird, I always thought everyone used right shift like me...
  12. I did a theatrical performance about puns. Really it was just a play on words. Isn't the pun the lowest form of comedy?
  13. G3 and below saves are stored in the data folder in the game directory. G4 and after, saves are stored in a folder in the Documents folder. Geneforge series has no official editor. Any editors are made using dialogue on signs or obelisks.
  14. What about G1 intro music? I liked that the best, because it sets the game mood decently well with its tribal drum sound, and immersion is extremely important to games, especially fantasy RPGs. Avadon's music is fairly good as well. Geneforge 2 was the worst game menu ever, boring cave sound, pointless drops from mouse movement that lag the game, and it was a shame to have such a bad menu on one of Jeff's best games. Nethergate has to be my favorite menu, loved the pictures that changed with mouseover, gave me some good chuckles way back then.
  15. Firstly, this shouldn't be a big problem for you. I need an advice for a book I can read before the end of the month. What books would you recommend? I'm not big into historical books, or any non-fiction really. Possibly something that might be useful for the AP English test, but isn't boring. Can't really give much more info than that. Secondly, I need an Interesting non-western culture to write a 15-ish page research paper on. The paper must be a single topic about the culture, marriage rituals for example. I don't want to do marriage rituals though, maybe something like government system maybe? Anyway, could anyone give out any interesting cultures along with what topic makes them interesting? This would be very helpful because I have no time on my hands at all and don't have time to look at a bunch of cultures.

Hey, I didn't write this, I found it somewhere and thought it was rather interesting, considering the way some people think and opinions they have, at least the people I know. Not at all meant for serious discussion. And I always thought Chopin held that place, not Bach?

    2 Questions

Question 1: If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion? Read the next question before looking at the response for this one. Question 2: It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates. Candidate A: Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 Martinis a day. Candidate B: He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening. Candidate C: He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never committed adultery. Which of these candidates would be our choice? Decide first... No peeking, and then scroll down for the response. Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt. Candidate B is Winston Churchill. Candidate C is Adolf Hitler. And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question: If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

  20. Jereth Deeps in the Kva, she helps you with Zethron's second quest. Just a warning, she is one of the hardest fights in the game, just behind Redbeard.
